Help..need hotel in Vancouver

All downtown hotels are close to the port. All are generally within a 5 minute cab ride from Canada Place. We always book through Expedia and have never had a problem. Our favorite Vancouver Hotel is the Wedgewood which was rated as the best hotel in Canada last year. There are several good hotels, of all price ranges, and you should not have any problems.

There was a tread on this board that listed some great prices at the Pan Pacific. You might check it out.

What type of hotel are you looking for? As the previous poster mentioned, any downtown hotel is an easy cab ride to the port. If you give an indication of your criteria, it would help with the suggestions.

Also check the Ports of Call - Canada board and look for threads on Vancouver.

To give you a sense of the location, the Pan Pacific Hotel is located right at the Port. Not saying you need to stay there but that will give you a feel for what is right at the port if you look at it on a map or internet map.

We were just in Vancouver and did 2 nights pre cruise at the Fairmont Waterfront and one night post cruise at the Pan Pacific. As stated previously, the Pan Pacific is right on top of Canada Place with great views of the harbour, Stanley Park and the Mountains. Right across the street is the Fairmont Waterfront, which we found to be the best hotel we have ever stayed in - they try so hard to meet your ever expectation - going above and beyond to help. We had a corner room that had two complete walls of floor to ceiling windows with views of the harbour, Mt. Ranier, mountains and Stanley Park. Even our bath had a huge floor to ceiling window overlooking the harbour and mountains. Both hotels are right at Canada Place and Ballentyne (sp) Pier is down the street, but not w/in walking distance. We were sailing the Zuiderdam and watched it and Sapphire Princess come into port between 6-6:30 am Saturday morning. Quite a sight to see them sail under the Lion's Gate Bridge into port. There are many hotels within a few blocks of Canada Place, but none as close as these two. gg

We are looking to stay uptown...near the Pan Pacific or near Stanley Park. We would like to be able to walk to the sites or take local transit. We only plan on one night..than it off to Kelowan to visit freind's and the winery's..than on to Baniff and than Edmonton.

Keith1010..checked out the Pan and maps...printed off the map of the port. The Pan does look nice on the web..we may just stay there, but it is $$$..

ell52....will check of Ports of call..I forgot able that thread:o

Thanks for the input..and help.

For anyone still needing a Vancouver hotel this summer pre or post cruise, Travelzoo has just announced a special being offered by the 5* Pan Pacific Hotel in Vancouver. The "Summer Promotion" is from July 1 - Sept. 11 and costs US $149 per night, including free parking. That's a great bargain - less than 1/2 the regular price. (Upgrades to a harbour view room cost $30 more). You need to mention "Summer Promotion" to book it by telephone or register with Travelzoo to get their weekly offers. I'll try to post the link and hope it works:D

I found this in an earlier post and did a cut and paste. The Pan Pacific is the best hotel to stay in as it's right at Canada Place. For anyone leaving Vancouver instead of getting in that long taxi lineup, just go to the outside of the Pan Pacific, the hotel will get you a cab without a long wait! Have a great cruise and enjoy Vancouver.
