Constellation in dry Dock May 2017

Its looking like it is Titan Airways, 07:45 to Nice. Check in desks 13-15, gate U at Terminal 2B.

We still didn't have the details from Celebrity via the hotel, and the email came through from Celebrity past midnight so really not sure how many people are going to make this flight. Can only assume other hotels did their bit, and that tomorrow is better sorted.

Yes we made it as well, after emails and a phone call, we got here to find we were NOT on the manifest, a lot of no shows so we are on the flight. [emoji964][emoji964][emoji964]

We going on the constellation Nov 2017 Rome to UAE 15 nights. Does anyone know how many formal/chic nights are on this cruise ?

Formal nights are long gone. Even though Celebrity says a max of 2 chic nights there likely will be 3.

Hi all just joined. Also just returned from a trip on the Constellation. Yes it certainly needs a refit. Was very disappointed with our trip. Waiting for customer services to look into my issues so will update later. But would not recommend this ship.

 

We sailed on her last summer and we love the cruise and found the ship to be very nice.

On the ship now for 10 days and there are 2. I haven't seen a long gown yet. 2 days after dry dock they were varnishing the handrails....

I disembarked on Monday and I wore a long dress on the 2nd chic night.i agree I thought most people were very casual one evening in the Martini bar a man came to the bar without a top on and got served

I didn't see anyone enforcing the dress codes.

To those that just disembarked, how did you find the ship, is there still work being done? We are scheduled for the cruise leaving Barcelona on July 31st.

The ship should not've been released for our cruise, I don't think. There was still unfinished work, they decided to varnish the railings within days of sailing, there was masking tape everywhere, paint spray and splashes not cleaned up and for a ship straight out of dry dock some of the communal areas were filthy on the first day.

 

It just had the overwhelming feeling that they were massively behind on the work supposed to be completed and got caught out.

 

But, I admit there is a chance that actually had we have been able to board on the Friday and not had the run around like we did over the weekend that we probably wouldn't have noticed these things. It's like when you arrive at a hotel and have a really poor experience at reception, you subconsciously look for other issues.

 

Or that might just be me!

I'm afraid I totally disagree I didn't see any masking tape anywhere.there was some vanishing going on.

Imho the ship was immaculate and I am fussy.

All crew friendly nothing was too much trouble always cleaning and polishing.

Yes we lost 2 nights of our cruise which again imo we were generously reimbursed for.It is always a gamble when a ship comes out of dry dock there may be problems.

We had a fabulous time we no complaints once on board

We even had free drinks and canapes from 2 till 5 on embarkation day.

That is just my views

I think this is where the problem lies, everyone has not been treated equal. We spoke to people that did the Jet, Set Sail package for instance who were looked after from start to finish so bar the issue with Monaco attendance they were happy, but some of us who weren't through a TA, weren't booked through the US, are on the lower rungs of the Captains Club and were already in BCN before the planned embarkation had a very different experience in terms of service from the respective head offices and compensation.

I booked through a ta in the UK cruise only then sorted my own flights and arrived on wednesday.I am not a high tier passenger either.

This was definitely the problem. Some people received great treatment and others received terrible treatment. I don't know if it was booking, TA, countries, or what. Those that received great treatment should be thrilled. Their experience was not the same for other people. We did not book through Celebrity, had a royal suite, are not a high tier Celebrity customer, did have a concierge, and all those factors together combined for a terrible start for us. We felt the compensation from Celebrity was good; adjusted our attitude and tried to have a great cruise.

 

 

We thought the ship looked fine since we were the first passengers after the dry dock. What we found on board as the main problem, was the staff/crew although friendly, were not trained or willing to help. If you had a room steward that was good and showed up every day at least once, you got the best of the ship. If you had a bartender that would actually take your order and get it to you, you got the best. The rest of us did not.

I am confused by your comments surely guests In the Royal Suite are escorted onto the ship and shown directly to Michael's Club and onto Luminae where lunch is served

We were escorted on the ship to our room by a guest staff person, handed off to the room steward (not sure where the butler) was. The butler came several hours later to introduce himself. We had no idea of any services available in the room etc.

 

 

No welcome folder, that would have been great! No mention of Michael's Club or Luminae, although I read prior to cruising about this amenity of a Royal Suite having never stayed in one. Found Michael's Club and Luminae on our own wandering the ship. Never knew the hours of either. The daily bulletin would tell us the hours restaurants were open.

 

 

Like I've said, our crew appeared new and had no idea what they were doing. First cruise out of dry dock and they should have been ready to go!
