Best way to connect to home....

We are leaving on Monday for a 4nt cruise to the Bahamas. We are leaving our 2 kids, so we want to be able to check in with them.

We are with Tmobile and they said incoming texts are free, outgoing texts are .50 each and calls are $6.00 a minute, which is ridiculous.

What are our other options for contact?

Day 3 we will be in Nassau. If there is a place with free wifi, I could connect and call home for free, right?

Any other options?

Also, someone told me I need to keep my phone off because of data charges, etc. But, I need my camera, so any other option there?

If can put your phone in airplane mode then you can still use the camera.

WiFi and phone are two different things. If you are using Skype you can call home using WiFi.

Most phones have international data roaming turned off as a default setting.

As mentioned, with airplane mode, or data off, you can take pics w/o accessing the cell network.
