Rare Solent Richard Posted January 3, 2017 #1 Share Posted January 3, 2017 My wife and I have recently returned from a trans-Atlantic crossing to New York onboard the Cunard flagship, Queen Mary 2. This was the first occasion we have had the opportunity to assess the ship’s ‘remastered’ appearance which occurred during a refit in June 2016 and we were keen to see how the improvements had faired after 4 months in operation. The full impact of the Remastering may have been somewhat lost due to the festive nature and Christmas decorations that were adorning the public areas. This was, however, an ideal opportunity to see the Cunard flagship in all its new decor. Here are some of my favourite photographs from the voyage. The Grand Lobby... Sir Samuel's and the new 'Godiva' livery... Again, the Grand Lobby without those intrusive glass lifts... The new carpet adjacent the Golden Lion... The entertainment at its best, Kenny Martyn's clarinet trio... ...and probably the most spectacular of the remastering, the Queens Grill... A full review of our west bound crossing, along with over 70 photographs, can be found on my cruise blog page... https://solentrichardscruiseblog.com/2017/01/02/queen-mary-2-remastered-trans-atlantic/
Pennbank Posted January 3, 2017 #2 Share Posted January 3, 2017 (edited) Interestingly that since 'remastering' the dips are appearing once again under the flooring. Especially the one by The Entrance to The Golden Lion. Edited January 3, 2017 by Pennbank
Rare Solent Richard Posted January 3, 2017 Author #3 Share Posted January 3, 2017 Interestingly that since 'remastering' the dips are appearing once again under the flooring. Especially the one by The Entrance to The Golden Lion. I must confess that having passed the area on several occasions ech day I never noticed. Then again, I was neither looking for anything amiss or walking with my head down.
Salacia Posted January 3, 2017 #4 Share Posted January 3, 2017 Interestingly that since 'remastering' the dips are appearing once again under the flooring. Especially the one by The Entrance to The Golden Lion. Yes - I encountered a "dip" in the floor in the casino adjacent to the roulette table. tv24 Posted January 4, 2017 #5 Share Posted January 4, 2017 Interestingly that since 'remastering' the dips are appearing once again under the flooring. Especially the one by The Entrance to The Golden Lion. Noticed this in October. Very odd. Happily the dips are not as pervasive as before the renovation.
