Which would you choose?

Hello all,

I'm looking at booking a cruise next year for my wife's significant birthday. I have found two that look good for around the same price.

The first is a 14-night cruise from Southampton on board P&O's new ship Britannia to the Canaries, Spain and Portugal:

The second is a Transatlantic from Puerto Rico via the Azores to Southampton onboard Royal Caribbean's Adventure Of The Seas:

We have cruised twice before, both times with Princess on board the Grand (before and after refit) and both times around the Med. My wife found crossing the Bay of Biscay somewhat challenging so the P&O cruise may not be great for her. I am not so keen on sea days so the RC cruise may not be for me.

If you were in my shoes, which one would you go for?

Cheers :D

I would choose the new Britannia ship to the Canaries, Spain & Portugal. Travelling the Bay of Biscay only lasts a few hours, whereas the trip over the Atlantic takes days and that could also be choppy.

BTW, you're not supposed to link to travel agent's websites or even mention them by name.

Thanks Ray, that's what I thought.

Apologies for the dodgy link. I tried to find the cruise on the RC website but bizarrely it doesn't appear to be there. Can I ask why we can't mention TAs?

Cheers :D

You're going to be in the Bay of Biscay on both cruises- in fact, you'll be in similar areas of the Atlantic as well, so there's not much difference, but with Britannia there will be more port days to break up the sea ones.

If you are prepared to fly and you obviously are by thinking of starting a cruise from Puerto Rico why not just fly out to Barcelona or Rome and board a ship there for a cruise around the Med thereby eliminating the need to cross the Bay of Biscay.
