Have just offered Abenaki some very revealing photos of Hum in his weakest

of moments. Sure to cause a stir among Idle Chat aficionados.

Negatives can be obtained by money order or credit card payable to

the Commander prior to world wide release. They will certainly pique more

interest than the soon to be released bio-pic currently being pruned to

6 1/2 hours.

I have one of H-H and myself which a Gay man has called "the gayest picture I have ever seen". Direct quote......Can we work a trade here??? The Enquirer wants rights to it but I have my own image to protect.:D

There will be far more eloquent tributes than mine ... Simply stated a

decent man of great intellect and character.

While I have often disagreed with his decisions, i never doubted the

foundations of his rulings. It is not the court's responsibility to make

law but rather to interpret it ... here, he was without peer.

I cannot imagine the court without him.

He was simply the most important person in the world*. The Supreme Court provides "checks and balances" on the U.S. government, and Justice Scalia provided checks and balances on the Supreme Court.

The future is very uncertain now.

Very uncertain. And not just the US. I have a bad feeling for Europe this Summer. We desperately need strong leadership on both sides of the pond.

"Cometh the hour, cometh the man"

Hum is a "bumbling, silly old fool /fart" as you all know.

Whilst Justice Scalia seems very much respected by true patriots and no doubt, probably the wider world too.

Which the world needs.

Hum must confess not knowing of this man until Raggy's recent posting (for which Hum is grateful).

May Hum also observe one (serious) point.

It is also reflects the nobility of character to recognise the merits and attributes of another whether it is ordinary mortals in ordinary positions or extra-ordinary mortals in extra-ordinary positions.

And all the time there are sufficient numbers of people in a position of influence who comport themselves in this manner and recognise the qualities of these characters, then no matter whatever institution they serve, that institution also better serves the people whether locally or beyond.

Sadly, Hum leans more to the generally beneficent dictator kinda guy (well mostly beneficent, there are days when he feels downright mean and punitive. Hum would re-introduce stocks into every town and village not that it helps to deter naughty people but at least they should be seen to be slightly ridiculed for a very short time by the generally good citizens to see that naughty people are not to be admired or allowed to "get away with it").

Neither is Hum sure whether everybody and anybody should be allowed the vote. But he would lower it to 13/14 years of age: there are a lot of smart young people out there (excluding Justin Bieber fans of course. They would not be allowed the vote whilst holding membership of the Justin Bieber fan club or other such nonsense especially rap "singers", sorry Trapper Z, that includes you. You and 'Snoop Doggy Doo" can just "sling your hook" but only at voting time. Hell knows what you would be voting for ? Liberalisation of LSD no doubt. On second thoughts......).

And Hum is definitely not sure just who should be allowed to stand for government?

The "monster raving looney party" in the UK is made up of Britain's finest and they should be handed a small minority to save them from the indignity of running for office amongst the "great un-washed" of humanity.

Hum would also ban anybody voting whilst seriously holding any religious "principles" (except the Church of England, which isn't really a religion: more of a, not so serious club actually).

And would be politicians should definitely not have any serious religious affiliations (observing Xmas, Hannuka, Diwali and even Ramadan -a -Ding- dong may be allowed but only as a widespread social event involving goodwill to ALL including those outside their particular mental infirmity...........sorry "faith").

Meeting places for politicians should be pubs and have a combination of "Laughing Gas", Marijuana and small quantities of LSD pumped into the air-conditioning system with cute pictures of children, animals and nature hung on walls to remind them to be kind stewards.

And anybody saying something nice or doing a good thing for the people should be celebrated and bought a round !

Yes Hum is ahead of his time or behind the times or just "off his 'ead" depending on your point of view.

Now if that doesn't get another warning from HD.....nothing will !

Hum pleads insanity !

See not so stupid after all ..... hehe.

Perhaps the news to other countries distorts a bit. The US Supreme Court (SCOTUS) is made up of nine justices, with equal votes. While Justice Scalia was eloquent to the nth degree, many of the other eight are highly capable of ensuring that the Constitution is defended to all necessary degrees.

Some of Justice Scalia's possible replacements are equally as capable, I suspect. Did you see that one of those suggested was approved by a vote of 97-0, less than three years ago, when he was nominated for the Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit? By the very same Senate that would have to confirm an appointment to SCOTUS.

In the meantime, I must thank Hum for a particularly entertaining post, about 12 hours ago (having no idea what time it is on Esprit, or Espirit, or Espirt). I had not thought about those unwashed masses for eons. Thx for the reminder!

Cheers, everybody.

Very uncertain. And not just the US. I have a bad feeling for Europe this Summer. We desperately need strong leadership on both sides of the pond.

And we in Europe have a concerned feeling regarding the US, old friend

Dammit Jim ........ Trump or Sanders !

Ye Gods !

Well many months ago, you said it could happen and that at least choices would be clear.

And again you're right on both counts !

You ruddy genius, you !

"Heartless bastard" or "bleedin' heart" are the apparent choices so far.

Good luck with that !

Glad to see HG looking more Presidential but in the Republican camp most Europeans look on appalled (but kind of fascinated with DT, wondering which section of society he is going to besmirch next).

Sorry.

Why does America hate the "centre ground" so much ?

Us Europeans would "snap up Obama" in a second if he would care to run Europe.

We never trusted the "Frogs" and since Angela had that "long brain fart" over encouraging everybody to come to Europe, thus managing to create the greatest in-stability on three continents ! (Europe, Africa and the Middle East).

The way it's all going, Britain will leave Europe and we kinda hope the Scots will leave too if they still want to.

But seriously, don't we just get the politicians we deserve.

Just a little reminder, Hum is still available as beneficent dictator, preferably a small island (St.Barts would do) or next door to Monaco stretching along the Cote d'Azur up into Provence and across to the Catalans.

Oh does Hum think the UK has better leaders ?

Haha

Certainly not the government and main opposing party leaders are all equally awful. Not since Thatcher has there been a strong leader and a person of principle but her allies dumped her.

Met a very fiery Texan lady last night. She wants Bernie. He (husband of Miss Texas) still loves BO. Very strident in their opinions ! Told us to get rid of the monarchy ! Cos she said it costs too much ! Tried in vain to explain it's not all about cost and besides the Queen brings in billions of pounds from tourists visiting the country.

Hum diplomatically suggested we adjourn to sing along together at the piano ........ had a wonderful time (not another contentious subject raised just good old camaraderie).

"Why does America hate the "centre ground" so much ?"

Because we don't want to be Europe.

(And a growing number of Brits apparently don't want to be either.)

But mainly it is because we don't use the parliamentary system. In your system, every nutty collection of whackos can form a little party and get an MP or two. Here, our nutty whackos get involved with one of the, effectively, two parties and rise up the ranks through attrition and/or payola until they can inffuence the party. Normal people are busy making a living and raising families (and wasting time on ....IJ).

Well, I guess excessive Dom does affect the memory a bit, as it was I that said it would be great if it came down to Trump vs. Sanders. Besides, Jim is too "involved" with his tequila for such thoughts.

And the choice is actually growth, freedom, and capitalism vs. stagnation, oppression, and communism. Choose one.

(PS - keep in mind that when someone says they are a "moderate", they actually are a socialist. And when someone claims to be a socialist, they are actually a communist. We have just had a bit of creep in the meaning of the "ists"...)

(PPS - If I would have had more coffee, I could have constructed a fully coherent response in one post.)

Well Hum supposes, it would just be a matter of time that Hum's blossoming International reputation amongst the "arty" and literary set would be "all the talk of the town".

We have encountered a high end South African, society magazine editor and her assistant as well as a PR lady in chief that covers most every major cruise line in the world.

Not daunted by such highly astute, sophisticated and intelligent women, Hum "bangs on" about some risque story involving Jim, a bottle of Jack and the consequences of blurting out "Roll Tide" whilst Blondie waves frantically behind them signalling to Hum to stop the bawdy story.

But all to no avail. Yet at least the ice is broken and their equal measure of gracious manners and compassion permit a little more time becoming better acquainted.

They are indeed extremely well travelled and fascinating to listen and learn from.

Blondie foolishly lets on that Hum writes a bit.

What ?

No it's drivel really ....... humorous drivel though, Hum adds defensively.

Blondie also let's on we are staying in the South of France for a chum's son's wedding. They comprise of being a renowned Scottish architect and she was the first female to receive a Michelin star in Scotland. Oh and they can drink !

Well this wedding is to last three days of eating and drinking et all.

After which we will be staying at the iconoclastic "Colombe d'Or" hotel. Famous for Impressionist artists leaving works of art as payment for stays.

The editor is fascinated and demands Hum writes for the magazine about the hotel during our stay.

We can't pay you but you will have Press access. We will have cards printed with your name on them and they will look after you.

Waddya think guys ?

Should Hum ?

Of course Hum will have to polish it up a bit.

Well Hum cant very well serve them this drivel, now can Hum ?

Of course, you dearest readers have become "worn down", eroded by this meagre diet of drivel and banality and actually have a bit of a habit for it.

It's true, don't go denying it now.

Oh the private begging letters Hum receives.

Hum wants to write the "all American novel". A Jack Kerouac of his time that with a touch of Ernest Hemingway and Steinbeck thrown in.

Oh pretentious ambition.

If you aint done it by 30 then it's far too late.

But you know, Hum's not that far away .........

You see, never growing up slowed the ageing process down a tad.
