Rare MMDown Under Posted April 20, 2017 #1 Share Posted April 20, 2017 "Son had policy with Covermore, whilst girlfriend had policy with QBE. They missed their Qantas flight from LAX, because of flight delay with United, due to engine trouble. United put them up in overnight hotel accommodation, with food vouchers, and flew them out 20 hours later. They had to buy new flights from LAX, thinking they would be covered by their travel insurance policies. However, Covermore excludes flight delay because of engine trouble, whilst QBE refunded all but the excess." SMH Yet another example of the necessity of checking the fine print of travel insurance policies. I understood Covermore was one of the better travel insurance policies, but it wasn't in this case. Elorac123 Posted April 20, 2017 #2 Share Posted April 20, 2017 If the flights were ticketed as a straight through flight they should not have had to pay anything I would have thought Cheers Carole

However, I suspect that wasn't the case.
Rare MicCanberra Posted April 20, 2017 #5 Share Posted April 20, 2017 Shame about what happened. The insurance companies make their money by not having to pay out and rely on people not reading or not understanding the T&Cs. They always need to be checked and clarified if not fully understood. happysnapper Posted April 20, 2017 #6 Share Posted April 20, 2017 I am starting to believe the wording of insurance policies and other T&Cs are developed in a way that makes them so confusing and unfortunately people do not read the entire content and/or they don't really understand them fully. Even when you contact the company a few times you can get a different interpretation from each consultant.
