stickyshocker Posted May 2, 2017 #1 Share Posted May 2, 2017 Are there (or still)any mass market cruise lines out there that still offers these ports of calls? Ps: I've only cruised with Royal.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
John Bull Posted May 2, 2017 #2 Share Posted May 2, 2017 Both Costa and Thomson used to operate weekly cruises out of Sharm el Sheikh which included both Aqaba and Safaga (the port for Luxor). But both have ceased their Red Sea itineraries due to political / terrorist issues. Your best bet may be a leg of a world cruise (mebbe Cunard or P&O (UK)) since ships continue to use the Suez Canal and they feel the need to use Red Sea ports. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Yes, World Cruises are sold in legs - usually 2 or 3 weeks. You can choose to do one leg, two legs, three.... or the whole shebang. I forget the numbers, but a big proportion of passengers join only for a leg or two. The cruise line decides where the legs start & end. Those legs are priced as competetively as their other cruises, with the more popular legs naturally more expensive than the others. Some of the American lines do world cruises too. And HAL offer long voyages - cruises of up to 40 or 50 nights split into 2 or 3 legs. Probably the best place to start is to google for the Aqaba and Safaga port websites & check out what cruise ships are scheduled. Or take the lazy option ;) & ask a cruise specialist travel agent to quote for appropriate options. JB :)
Travel Junkie Judy Posted May 4, 2017 #5 Share Posted May 4, 2017 We just returned from a Middle East cruise that started in Dubai and ended in Venice. We started with Oman and Jordan. Aqaba, Sharm el Sheikh and Safaga were all on this cruise. We also enjoyed Oman, Jordan and Haifa. We cruised through the Suez Canal, which was great. Crete, Dubrovnik and Venice rounded out the cruise. We were on NCL Star and felt it was one of the very best cruises ever.
