How can my in-laws contact a car company for pick-up at Newark airport if they don't have a cell phone? Are there payphones? Can you catch a car service curb side and if so would it be the same rate as pre-booking one? Do they have Van's curb side? 4 people with bags.

I think it's going to be tricky. Where are they going? What date are they doing this?

They can borrow a cell phone or they can not book a car service and just go directly to the taxi dispatcher and get livery transportation. Please give us more details.

There are pay phones-all over the place. Most of the car services have 800 telephone numbers as well. Its illegal for a car/limo service to pick up someone curbside without a pre-arrangement. EWR has taxi service that can be picked up without pre-arrangement.

the rates are competitive although they be slightly more than some car services.

also where are they going?

its also hard to believe that among 4 people there is no cell phone in this day and age. They may have to pay a roaming rate but it may be worth it.

Two different hotels actually the The DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Metropolitan and the Iroquois Hotel. What would a car service charge for the additional drop? No cell phones as they are from Canada and it would cost $20 just to be able to have service and this is the only real call they would need to make. They are flying in on Saturday Nov 29th around 1:30pm. I see that the van rate is $65 what would the actual rate be with tolls and tip?

It's very easy to contact the major car services upon arrival. Just call their toll free number from a pay phone...and in some cases the car service can also be reached directly from a customer service phone at the ground transportation desk in the airline terminal.

You really need to contact the car service companies to get information on their exact charges for a multiple drop ride. The two hotels you've mentioned aren't that far apart so I can't imagine the charge would be more than $5-10.

Tolls are expensive...figure something in the $15-20 range for a trip from EWR to Manhattan. Customary tip percentage is 15-20% of the fare. In some cases the car services will automatically add on 20% for vehicles other than a sedan...again you have to talk to your car service in advance to get their exact policy.
