BlueBanner Posted September 12, 2016 #1 Share Posted September 12, 2016 Does anyone have information as to where the Serenade of the Seas docks in Portland, Halifax and St. Johns? Would also love recommendations of any sights within reasonable walking distance from the piers and restaurant recommendations. We are leaving this coming Saturday 9/17. Thanks for any information. mainecruiser25 Posted September 12, 2016 #2 Share Posted September 12, 2016 In Portland you will be right downtown and within walking distance of the area known as the Old Port. There you will find cobblestone streets, lots of bars, restaurants, galleries and some shopping. http://www.whatsinport.com/Portland-Maine.htm Sent from my iPhone using Forums

The Ocean Gateway cruise terminal in Portland is right downtown. The Old Port district is only a couple blocks away. Not sure of your definition of "reasonable" walking distance, but most of the city is 1.5 miles or less from the pier. There is the Portland Observatory for views of Casco Bay. Portland Museum of Art, with their Wyeth collection, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow house, Shipyard Brewery. Restaurants in downtown/Old Port: Street & Co, Fore Street, Boone's Fish House and Oyster Room, The Grill Room, Duckfat, Nosh, Eventide Oyster Co, Bull Feeney's. Not all open for lunch, and not sure of your ship's sailing time. Slab pizza, the Holey Donut (get there early, when they sell out, they close), Blue Rooster (creative use of tater tots, especially in poutines like "3 little pigs")
maryann ns Posted September 12, 2016 #4 Share Posted September 12, 2016 In Halifax most ships dock at Pier 21 or 22. Here are two maps: http://cruisehalifax.ca/our-port/facilities/ https://goo.gl/maps/HTHG3GkACfQ2 Check out this link for more information about Halifax: https://www.tripadvisor.ca/ShowTopic-g154976-i327-k9826510-Arriving_by_cruise_to_Halifax_please_help-Halifax_Halifax_Region_Nova_Scotia.html

BlueBanner Posted September 12, 2016 Author #6 Share Posted September 12, 2016 We'll be stopping in St. John, New Brunswick. Thanks.
bonvoyagie Posted September 13, 2016 #7 Share Posted September 13, 2016 Most all ports have websites that list the cruise ship schedule and the docking locations. A google search finds them quite easily. In Saint John there are three berths you will be at the Marco Polo Cruise Terminal (MPCT) Cruisetimetables.com also talks about the various ports but does not go into detail as to which ship docks where. IWantToLiveOverTheSea Posted September 26, 2016 #9 Share Posted September 26, 2016 http://www.cruisesaintjohn.com/media-centre/key-information/cruise-schedule/ is port website site for Saint John. All of the piers are fairly close together, though, so it may not matter where you dock. Cruise port area has plenty of things to explore by an easy walk. . cruiseportlandmaine.com is port website for Portland. Usually the biggest cruise ships get assigned to the easternmost pier (Ocean Gateway) but it's basically in the same general place as the other one (Ocean Terminal) so location probably doesn't matter much. Old Port is nice and not far away. I'm interested in the Portland Observatory - an old signal station. Not free or cheap but they give you a tour, and the views are good. It's not terribly far from the port. Halifax has been covered. Fun to poke along the waterfront there. You may want to check tomsportguides for Halifax & Saint John - good info there. I don't know if he covers Portland, though.
