Anyone recently been to Passion Island?

We have been to Passion Island many times. Always loved it. But friends from work who went in May said it was awful. The seaweed was very bad.

We are going to Cozumel Sept 3. Has anyone gone there just recently?

Not sure where to go in port.

In Cozumel, we have been to Chankanaab Park several times -- it's nice, but getting in and out of the water for snorkeling can be a bit treacherous. Our new discovery (for us anyway) is snorkeling off of the beach at the Money Bar... Take a cab to the Money Bar and spend the day... The snorkeling is awesome!

This may not be exactly "recent," but we went in Jan 2014 and there was definitely a good amount of seaweed.

Sea week along the Mayan coast this year is especially bad. So that could be part of it. We were not fans of Passion Island when we went a few years back. Must our opinion, we didn't like the crappy fiberglass beach loungers that sat right on the sand that were set aside for those on the cruise excursion.

I guess it's not "too recent" but we were there in November, so 10 months ago, and yes there was a lot of seaweed and my daughter was even stung by fire coral that day and we couldn't go in the water. :( It was our first time there, so nothing to compare it to from any other day that it might not have sea weed.

The island itself was beautiful though and we still managed to have a good day there, just not enough time.
