Help for disabled at piers.

My husband uses a walker and cane but cannot do long distances. We rent a scooter and it works wonderfully. If you are concerned, go to the special needs site on the Celebrity site and they can give you information on anything you are concerned about. We rent thru them and the scooter is in the cabin when we board and they remove it after we leave. The crew are always at the gangway at all the ports (or at least have been on our cruises) and they help you with whatever your needs might be. If you notify Celebrity prior to your cruise that you might need help boarding, we do with the gangways being to steep, they will provide a wheelchair and someone to help you board.

When you check in they should have your name on a list. Works great if you let them know. Same disembarking at the end of the cruise.

Good luck!

Which, if any, ports provide help with golf carts at the pier for 14 day Solstice? I am planning to use a rollator on board and want to know what to do from the ship to transportation in the parts we will be visiting.

They will help you.

I have been to all those ports on Celebrity and they do not provide transportation from the ship to the areas where the transportation areas are located, and I've not seen golf carts. They will assist getting you up and down the gangway, but once you're on the pier, you're on your own. They will not provide wheelchairs and pushers to get you out of the dock area. The only time they do that is for embarkation and disembarkation.

Sometimes a person must accept what abilities they do and do not have and travel accordingly.

The ADA is not in effect in foreign countries. The foreign flagged ship accommodates within reason.

This is not an ADA issue. Celebrity cruise ships are compliant. They provide ramps, handicap bathrooms, cabins, ample wheelchair access etc. In fact, they probably exceed any ADA standards. Once off the ship though, they simply aren't responsible for your navigating the port. Celebrity does make arrangements when the port extends shuttle service etc. It entirely depends what port, where the ship actually docks, and where public transport or excursion gathering points are. Some excursions for example provide a gathering point right outside the ship and shuttle you to where the excursion leaves from.
