zqvol Posted May 8, 2016 #2 Share Posted May 8, 2016 You should ask this on the RCCL boards, you have a much better chance of getting a response. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=
leaveitallbehind Posted May 8, 2016 #3 Share Posted May 8, 2016 (edited) Has anyone sailed in this reconstructed ship just started sailing Jan. (Royal Caribbean)? Welcome to Cruise Critic. She has not been reconstructed, just refurbished - which means stateroom upgrades, internet improvements, specialty restaurant additions, casino upgrades, etc. But she still is the same basic ship. BillB48 Posted May 8, 2016 #4 Share Posted May 8, 2016 The Empress of the Seas has not made any revenue trips for Royal Carib since being transferred from Pullmantur. She is still in the yard at Freeport and is scheduled to begin service towards the end of May.
chengkp75 Posted May 8, 2016 #5 Share Posted May 8, 2016 Yep, RCI has had to cancel a total of 11 4 and 5 day cruises because of the need to do significant repairs to the galley and provisions areas of the ship in order to meet USPH sanitation requirements. They have reported that they are essentially gutting and renewing all 5 galleys onboard, including walls and ceilings.
