GTY upgraded to better GTY?

Hey everyone!

 

So I booked a BF Guarantee for Europe 2016 this past week onboard the Crown for our honeymoon. Upon returning home today, I'm listed at a BD Guarantee with no cabin assignment, with the same pricing as the BF.

 

Two Questions:

 

1) Has this happened to anyone else before?

 

2) Do I now need to watch the BD category for price drops, instead of the BF?

It has happened before. If there's a price drop on BF category, which you'd qualify for, you'd lose the BD guarantee and would be back as BF guarantee. You would not qualify for a price drop on a BD category, since you didn't pay for it.

If you booked with a TA into one of their speculative Groups , it is common to be upgraded BF to a BD as part of the Group benefit?

Yes it happens.

You would not qualify for any price drops if you are assigned a higher cat. ;)

Only difference between a BF and a BD is a minor location difference. Same cabin. Technically an "upgrade" but not really. Kind of like getting a parking space a slot or two closer to your destination. Edited May 25, 2015 by Pam in CA
