Hobar Posted October 9, 2015 #5 Share Posted October 9, 2015 Depends what area you want to stay at. Last time we stayed at the Hyatt walking distance to Wafi Mall and loved it. Later this year we are staying in Jumeirah. I don't think you can go wrong anywhere. You will love Dubai. Pick an area and then go on Trip Adviser to find a hotel in what we price range you want. The bus we took was pretty close to the Wafi mall. I just don't recall its name. It did go to all the malls and the Spuk area by the river where we got off an d walked around and stopped for lunch. I felt as if it gave us a comprehensive tour of the city. And the ticket is good for 24 hours so we were able to use it he next morning to go back to one of the stops. cannockfrodo Posted October 11, 2015 #7 Share Posted October 11, 2015 We're in Dubai in January and my wife is wondering what clothing is acceptable when we leave The Palm. All advice welcome
Hobar Posted October 11, 2015 #8 Share Posted October 11, 2015 Any clothing. I am a runner and bought pants and long sleeve shirts but the hotel assured me no need to coverup. For running I wore shorts and sleeveless shirts. For day wear, I wore shorts and short sleeve shirts. No clothing restrictions as far as I can tell. Not sure about other UAE countries but I'll soon find out as I'll be there next month. And although the previous poster says Dubai is easy to navigate by foot and taxi, I don't agree. It's too vast an area to simply walk around. The HOHO bus is great because you get to see so much more than just one area. Just so easy and convenient. willing292 Posted October 11, 2015 #9 Share Posted October 11, 2015 Dress modestly. Shirts with sleeves, and long pants. A great area to stay in is near the Burj Khalifa as you have easy access to the Metro for cheap transportation.
take us away Posted October 24, 2015 #10 Share Posted October 24, 2015 Also going to Dubai next year and researched the HOHO buses. Decided on the Big Bus as 3 routes and more is included like admissions to some places, the Desert Night Tour, etc with a 48-hour ticket. Will be there for 2 days so it all works well for me.
