Man of Many Hats Posted July 18, 2014 #2 Share Posted July 18, 2014 Couple of cruises back I went off and forgot my good camera. Stopped at a Walmart and got a Vivitar, it only cost about $30, small, lightweight, takes great pictures.
crzndeb Posted July 18, 2014 #3 Share Posted July 18, 2014 Since this question isn't really specific to Carnival, it may get moved. Here is a really good board to peruse through... http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=
Grannycb Posted July 18, 2014 #4 Share Posted July 18, 2014 (edited) I found my iPod touch takes really nice pictures, as good as a more expensive and heavier camera. The flash works surprisingly well too. Edited July 18, 2014 by Grannycb
seashinesunshine Posted July 18, 2014 #5 Share Posted July 18, 2014 Need advice on an easy point and shoot camera. Lightweight. Any suggestions Thanks Kathy There are many many options out there and knowing what kind of pics and what your skill levels are etc would be helpful, but the camera and photo boards are great places to get references. I have one suggestion, when you are looking, go to the store and actually hold it in your hand. Does it fit your hand and is it comfortable for you to use? Each one of us has different hands, and while it might seem silly, if it is comfortable for you to hold, you will hold it steadier and this will help get better pics. I have an underwater that I LOVE, except it is slightly small and hard to push buttons etc underwater with one hand. Mu husbands underwater is bigger and easier to use. There are many good choices and you do get what you pay for. Have fun shopping and looking and practice in different lighting before you go. My husband is a professional photographer and he can take a cheap camera and make it take better pics and I can take his expensive cameras and not get good pics. It can be the skill and knowledge of the person behind the lens. I just let him set up my camera for the lighting. :D
firemanbobswife Posted July 18, 2014 #6 Share Posted July 18, 2014 I have an Olympus Tough TG-620. It's waterproof/shockproof and has a bunch of easy to use settings. I have it set for the highest resolution 16:9 HD or whatever it is. BEAUTIFUL crisp, color rich pictures. And it's a pretty blue color :)
Mike2131 Posted July 18, 2014 #7 Share Posted July 18, 2014 My back up camera is a Nikon P510. It has a 42x zoom lens, is lightweight, and is easy to use. Definitely recommended.
donaldsc Posted July 19, 2014 #8 Share Posted July 19, 2014 Any camera up to a high end expensive dSLR camera is "easy" if you put it into "P" mode. Define your price point. If as I suspect you mean inexpensive, the basic answer is "any of them". DON
