Gem still at NY pier - 5:15 pm

Anyone know if there is a problem?

Breakaway should have left at 3:00 and the Gem at 4:00. Both are still at their piers.

I've been watching, too. Checked their roll call and nothing.

I did read that she was late this morning getting into port due to a medical emergency, but nothing was confirmed.

Seeing funnel smoke for the past 15 minutes.

Hope all is well.

EDIT: Gem was scheduled to sail at 4:00. Breakaway at 6:00 on a CTN.

The Breakaway is doing a 2 nighter and is scheduled to leave at 6pm. Not sure about the Gem.

Gem is backing out now.

Yea, she is backing out now. I hope I get an earlier departure in 19 days when I sail on her! Although leaving the harbor at night would be very photogenic.

A night time sailaway from NY must be so beautiful, with the city and Statue of Liberty all lit up. I can never wake up early enough to see it on the way back, and it's always been daytime when I've sailed out of NY.

Nice night for sailaway but pretty windy and cold!

Yea, I'm about 35 minutes from Manhattan and its windy and 27 degrees here. I hope anyone on deck has that UBP so they can get toasty!

Haha yes! I think I would need a few strong ones to be up top tonight.

At least they are headed to warmer places....lucky lucky people :)

We're just off the Gem this morning. We diverted off course yesterday afternoon to allow a medivac to take place via coast guard helicopter....we saw the helicopter circling the ship for at least fifteen minutes from our deck ten balcony. The wind was wicked and I can't imagine how anyone was airlifted from the ship! Because of the emergency yesterday we were delayed an hour reaching port this morning....walk-off disembarkation didn't even begin until 9 AM....I imagine everything got behind by our later than usual arrival, which probably accounts for the late departure this afternoon. We had a fantastic cruise....wish I was still there!
