Beach Day if docking in Charlotte Amalie?

We will be on Allure in late July with Norwegian Escape also in town.

We will have our young teens and an active Nana in tow. DH and DD like to snorkel, but we don't want to do a snorkel trip with the group so are thinking of trying to do a beautiful beach instead. We thought of doing STJ but not sure if all the extra travel time is worth the hassle. Sapphire and Lindquist look like the real deal so thinking of one of those?

Access to restrooms is a must, and food and drink would be a big plus. We're in port from 10-7. We could bring food from the boat or stop in port on way back, but Nana would need a chair.

Any thoughts? We'd like to get on a real beach (we've been to Labadee, etc and would love to go to a "real "Caribbean beach.) We'll bring our snorkel things so no need to rent those.

Wondering about taxi times from that dock as well.

Thank you!

To experience a nice beach that isn't crowded and also offers food and drink, lounges, and good snorkeling we would recommend Sapphire. The restaurant and other facilities are closed, but that impacts condo guests more than day visitors. There are good options there for food and drink, restrooms are available, and you'll find nice shaded areas along the waters edge. Typically not crowded away from the swimming beach on bigger ship days.

Coki is also a gorgeous beach, but IMHO the busier vibe there just takes away from the experience. But Coki is another favorite for snorkeling for many folks who aren't looking for a more laid back vibe, and vendors cater to your needs there. Lindqvist is arguably the nicest beach on the island, if you go there you could pack a lunch from Gourmet Gallery at the dock. Haven't snorkeler there but have read it can be good.

Taxi is about $11pp each way from Crown Bay.

Agree that STJ is not worth the time if a snorkeling beach is your goal, you'd have to go to Maho or perhaps Waterlemon Cay to really enjoy that. The East End beaches of STT are a good choice.

The closest beach to Crown Bay is Lindbergh. There are two hotel/restaurant/bars, chairs available, etc. Should be around $4-5 per person (not sure exactly) for taxi, about 5-10 minute ride. If you go to St John, the ferry alone for 5 people would be $70-15 min each way, not to mention the taxi to and from Red Hook (? $120)- 30+ min. each way and the taxi on St John.
