Travel in Croatia and Montenegro

I have used Private Guides Team for a small group and private tours 6 times over the past 2 1/2 years

in Split ,Dubrovnik and Kotor. My first experience was with Matt. Matt is by far a 5 star guide,

personable, knowledgeable, and a genuine friend the first time you meet him. He goes far beyond the typical

history of an area, adding personnel life experiences of the town and country he lives in. His fellow guides, Peter in Split,

MS Zorka in Dubrovnik and Llija in Kotor were all as pleasant and knowledgeable. This group really tries to make each

tour unique, comfortable, safe and informative.

They have a large variety of vehicles that can accommodate any size group, but from their suggestion, stick with the Mini Bus, car or van.

You can get around the small roads and into great scenic spots that a large bus can not go. They have pre arranged tours

or you can custom make your day. I have based my tours off from their suggestions and then generally added something I had a desire to see.

Their pricing and ability to custom make my tours was a big plus, along with their patience answering my 100's of questions on costs and suggestions on which sites we could fit in a day was another factor why I hired them and would do so again.

One of my favorite add on to a tour was the village of Ston, have done it twice and would do it again.

Another item on my list of likes, they all seem to be able to add a little special site, a flair of the unexpected, on each tour, not listed, but amazing.

I seldom book private guides due to cost. However, I was wondering if any of you who have booked one would be willing to give me an idea of how much this costs for perhaps a half day tour of the area around Kotor?

Private tours in Kotor are relatively inexpensive compared to some of the other ports. I had a very detailed thread a while ago about Milo. He is the driver that took us around Kotor during our stop and he was absolutely fantastic and reasonably priced. You can figure between 100 - 150 Euro for about a 5 hour tour and that was for the 4 of us not per person. Over the years I have sent referred hundreds of cruise critic members to Milo and have received a lot of great response.

Also check out Adventure Montenegro. Our group of 6 used them in early June this year for a walking tour of Kotor and then a drive to visit Budva and then back to Kotor. The fee was 50 euros per person for about 4-5 hours total. Great people to deal with by email and in person. http://www.adventuremontenegro.com/

I would not bother with Budva, it is one big building site that is so bad the man responsible for the permits is in prison.

Budva is the metropolis of Montenegrin tourism. Tourists always want to stay longer in the old town of Budva. definitely worth a visit. among all these organizations and guide recommends that you visit the site Mont Travelers organizations as well as review about them on Trip advisor site.

My wife is ex Yugoslavian and lived in and loved Budva for several years. The sound of jack hammers from 06.00 to 20.00 hrs and the on going Taxi "wars" were a few of the reasons we would not return.
