MoniMommy Posted September 27, 2016 #1 Share Posted September 27, 2016 I'll be sailing on the Sunshine from New York in about 2 weeks. I would like to send a postcard out aboard the ship before we leave NY. Does anyone know If I will be able to purchase a postcard on board the ship? If I remember correctly the gift shops are not open while the ship is in port. Can you buy postcards at Guest Services? It's only a 4 day cruise and if I send it before leaving NY it will reach the recipients before we return.
skrufy Posted September 27, 2016 #2 Share Posted September 27, 2016 The guest services do not sell postcards, they do stock the stamps for the countries you make stops in. A few years ago guest services had large postcards of the ship you were on for free, but I have not seen them since then.. Does not hurt to ask if they have any. bigman01 Posted September 27, 2016 #3 Share Posted September 27, 2016 Your best bet is to either bring one on board with you. The gift shop will not be open until after the ship sails, and as skrufy said, you may or may not be able to get a free one at guest services. Alternatively, you could wait until the gift shop opens, buy one and then mail it out at your first port of call. Guest services usually carries stamps for the different ports of call (at least if it's a regular itinerary).
maldenmusic Posted September 27, 2016 #4 Share Posted September 27, 2016 i don't think I've seen those postcards of the ships in a while now. I have a few at home that i kept as souvenirs.
evandbob Posted September 27, 2016 #5 Share Posted September 27, 2016 Wow, postcards bring me back about 40 years. You might be better off getting one from a pre cruise hotel or in a Times Square store if you can make a stop there on your way to the ship. If you mail it from the ship it will probably arrive at it's destination after you get back from your 4 day cruise, not before.
