Book a hotel near the Convention Center and you will be able to walk to the piers.:)

Agreed. We stayed at the Embassy Suites and it was a quick 5 minute walk to the port, with luggage. No problem at all, even after the hotel concierge incorrectly advised us we had to take a taxi. NOPE. We sailed with RCI but the Carnival pier was definitely a little further down.

Stayed at the Hampton Inn 1201 Convention Center Blvd. Complimentary Shuttle to & from cruise terminal. Great breakfast Buffet. Comfortable clean rooms.

Thank you for that address. We had just received an email for the N.O. Convention Visitor Bureau and was glad to see that Hampton was on the list of hotels they recommended. We like staying here. We have stayed at the Hampton many times we went to NYC, they have a nice complimentary breakfast. ;)
