Reaching The Gulf From NOLA

Just a quick question for anyone who has sailed from NOLA. We are sailing on the Serenade at the end of February. How long does it take to sail down the Mississippi and reach the Gulf of Mexico from NOLA?

Please note post #38 by WLHyatt. There is detailed historical information about what you will pass on your way down the river as well as his time-line from his May 12, 2013 Carnival Conquest cruise. Remember, sunset on your sail date will determine what you will be able to see during your sail to the Gulf of Mexico.

It is a fascinating sail. The Mississippi River is so twisty and windy. At one point, we saw a Carnival ship that had departed about 20 minutes ahead of us sailing in the opposite direction of us. Thought it was returning to the pier for some reason, but it was just the switchback of the river!
