Barbados Boxing Day

Hi, whats it like in Barbados on boxing day, do they not work like us? Just had an excursion rejected and i wondered if i should try others or could it just be they dont do that trip on that day of the week?

We're on the same cruise as you and we fly on Christmas Day from Gatwick. I dont think anything is open on Christmas Day and I have my doubts about Boxing Day as it falls on a Saturday but then again there is another boat in besides the Azura so surely they would cater for tourists?

We were hoping to go to Sandy Lane Beach by bus - does anyone know if the buses will be running?

I read that if Boxing Day falls on a weekend they have a bank holiday on the Monday like we do. like you say, 2 boats they'd be mad to miss out but they haven't come back to my email asking if it's just not available on a Saturday

Barbados isn't such a grindingly poor country that they have to drop everything just because the rich tourists are coming. They can afford to take days off, just like the rest of us can.

Well you do have to be a rich tourist to go to Barbados.

Poor tourists go self catering in Blackpool, or Rhyl if they're really poor.

We were in Barbados boxing day 2014 and booked a day pass at the Hilton. All the shops in the port were open and plenty of taxis around to take you to the beach, the boatyard was definitely open too:)

You can just walk in and use the facilities or did your pass include food and drink?

Everyone who can go on holiday to Barbados is rich by Barbados standards. They're relatively poor, but not (as a whole) grindingly poor.

Yes it included lunch and drinks, beach towels sunbeds and umbrella, the lunch was really good :)

Fair enough.

If its the buffet lunch on the ground floor its quite nice if you get an outside table overlooking the pool area and out to sea.
