midwestchick Posted July 6, 2017 #1 Share Posted July 6, 2017 How close is the lift to where the cruise ships dock in Valetta? What other options are there to get up to Valetta?

Rare irvington Posted July 6, 2017 #3 Share Posted July 6, 2017 We took a cab back which was pricy at ten euros for three of us, but one of us was unwell so it was needed. The distances aren't far. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Rare irvington Posted July 6, 2017 #5 Share Posted July 6, 2017 Honestly I'm forgetting but I would guess it was a 15 min walk. I'm hoping someone can chime in who remembers better. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
hawkeyetlse Posted July 9, 2017 #6 Share Posted July 9, 2017 By not far, are you talking 1/8, 1/4 1/2 or a mile?It depends which berth your ship gets. If you look on Google Maps satellite view, the current aerial photo shows a cruise ship docked at the "Valletta Waterfront". If that's where you end up, that's about 700 meters or just less than half a mile from the Barakka Lift. But cruise ships can also dock where the bus stops say "Kurcifiss", which is almost right next to the elevator, probably less than 5 minutes walk from the gangway of your ship, if that's where it docks. There are 3 other ships in port when we are so I have no idea where Azamara docks. I'm not sure if there is a way to find out.
Rare cruisequeen4ever Posted July 23, 2017 #8 Share Posted July 23, 2017 The walk is super short from outside the port; that's not the issue. It's the ridiculously long walk from the ship to get out of the port that can be wearing. It depends on which berth your ship gets. We had the further one, which is almost across the street from the lift. Unfortunately, you have to walk all the way to the opposite end of the port and around and back to get to the lift. If you're mobile, you'll be fine, though. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
