High Protein, Low Carb, Low Fat - Amazing results for me!

I've tried Weight Watchers, and several other commercial diets, but when I tried the HPLC (High Protein, Low Carb) diet, it just clicked for me! WW, I would lose 10-15 lbs, and fade off. Same story with the other diets.

So, I joined Dr. Bernstein (specialized diet in Canada - likely not widely available). It's a similar program to the Dukan Diet. It's a little more restrictive than Atkins in that it restricts the fats too. It's amazing, and works for me.

2 years ago, I dropped 62 lbs, and for the most part, kept it all off except for 10lbs, which I was OK with. But this year, I changed jobs, and I was surprised how much that affected my eating styles. I started to gain back some more of the weight.. just before Christmas 2015, I had gained back 30 of my 62 lbs, so I had one of those self realization moments and said - Jan 1, I'm joining up again.

So, Jan 4 was my baseline

Weight losses by weigh in day (total weight lost)

Jan 6- 5.0 lbs

Jan 8- 7.8 lbs

Jan 11 - 9.8 lbs

Jan 13 - 11.0 lbs

Going strong!

Thanks for sharing your success!

How many calories do you eat each day? What does your macronutrient consumption look like in terms of percentage between carbs, fats, and proteins?

I've not done any analysis on the breakdown of carbs/protein/fats. The program comes with a very specific list of foods (available at all grocery stores) that we can eat.

For example, I'm allowed 2 protein servings per day. It could be greek yogurt, egg whites (or substitutes), many types of meat, etc etc. Looks like the servings work out to between 15-20g protein each (so 30-40g per day)

Basically, the program allows for:

2 proteins (30-40g/day) -but no fatty meats allowed (no bacon, etc)

2 bread substitutes (very restrictive on the "breads" you can eat - no Wonder Bread here) works out to about 15-25g carbs total.

2 Fruits (eg, 1 apple, 1 orange, 8oz watermelon, berries(5oz))

2 Veggies (200g -8oz servings each)(no high carb veggies like potato or corn)

2 Garnish (FF mayo, etc)

2 Seasonings

There are a few "free" foods like SF Jello - limit 1 per day

I've worked out the calories, and it seems to be around 850-950 per day.

But, (and this was the part I didn't believe until I lived it) - I am NOT hungry because I keep blood sugars low.

Jan 13 - 11.0 lbs

Jan 15 - 12.0 lbs

Jan 18 - 14.2 lbs

That's 2 weeks into the program, and I'm down 14.2 lbs.
