I'm a bit late hoping in here. Hubby JUST booked him, 9 year old, and I on Freedom 10/25/15. I get to celebrate my 40th b'day on board!

Hubby and I were on Freedom May 2013. MK shop was being built then - we were in a promenade room and I could see the "wall" and a bit over it from our room.

Thanks sooo much for the pics and review - I was able to show our 9 year old some pics of Freedom. He's never been on a cruise, so this is a whole new world to him (we've traveled internationally with him and he LOVES the adventure).

For those not yet sailed, the Port has LOTS of great signage to Terminal 1. We are local and went to Victory Casino last weekend and drove BY T1 on our way - and I was keeping an eye open for signs for T1 and there were lots, so rest assured that the Port gets you there easily!

ok, off to dream it is October and time for FOS b'day cruise!

Not sure if you are aware that there is a group booked on half the ship on the 10/25 sailing. It's a GREAT group of people sailing to raise money for a dialysis fund. The group pays for dialysis patients to sail & be able to have treatments while on board. They can get a little rowdy while they are having a wonderful time for a good cause. The advantage is that you will have a fireworks show off the ship one evening which is spectacular.

They must have improved the signage because when we sailed on the 2-22-2015, we had trouble finding the garage entrance.

So happy you enjoyed this thread :) I had a lot of fun reporting LIVE!

Okay, I think we are in business for pictures...

We spent the day on Barefoot Beach in our Over the water Cabana - it was pure heaven. If you ever get the chance, I highly recommend it. We shared the cost with the couple we are cruising with, so we didn't feel the full bite of the $250 fee :o We had a dedicated cabana attendant, and we didn't have to get up at all for drinks - I am quite sure I had one too many Labadoozies :p

Guests of those staying in suites are welcome on Barefoot Beach - we were told otherwise last year on the Explorer.

The buffet was upgraded (I think someone asked?) and the menu was steak, shrimp skewers, bbq ribs, hamburgers, hot dogs, lots of salad and some nice desserts.

I thought I read that the Cabana's only had 2 lounge chairs but can accommodate 6 people. There are 4 of us but don't want to invest in this if only 2 can lounge ~ am I missing something?

There are 2 lounge chairs and an L shaped couch and ottoman.

There are only 2 loungers in direct sunlight, the Lshaped sofa and ottoman are inside the cabana and out of the sun completely.

Hi Kadun - We're sailing the Eastern Caribbean on FOS, leaving 2/21/16. What date are you sailing?

I'm so glad I found this thread! We'll be sailing on the FOS February 2016 and I'm looking forward to your live review!!! I can't wait to see the pictures you post! Enjoy your cruise and Happy Anniversary!

I have to agree with you, Sherri. Too late for Robyn...but for anyone else in this position - maybe you could ask for several extra pillows to put under the gold towels?

I'd sweet talk your cabin attendant into finding some sort of pad to make the chairs and loungers comfortable. You are paying for a top tier room and you should be comfortable on the balcony. I almost never go to the pool but I live on our balcony.

I'm curious about the local Microbrewery you mentioned. Would it be possible to get more info? Name? Location?

Thanks! :)

We sat at Grill's today for lunch and were freezing in the shade! Lol! I was looking at Freedom and whining the whole time...."but I want to be on a cruise"! Even though we just got off of Brilliance last week.:o

We walked to terminal 1 and it is wonderful! The drive thru for the cars, the luggage system overhead, and we walked as far as we could into the terminal and I was in awe.

Then we drove over to Quantum and got an up close look. I tried to post a pic here but could not find it, but will try tomorrow. Then we went to a local microbrewery and talked to people that were on Quantum. We knew because of their RCCL bracelets. Sounds like a great ship, but for now Freedom is my fave.

Thanks Robin for taking us along on your cruise.:)

I would think they have rectified this situation by now?!

It was pretty sad having this lovely rattan furniture with no cushions....

Hi Robyn,

I sent an email just a bit ago, with a question about your cruise that I wasn't comfortable posting on a public forum. I'm hoping you received it! If not, could you please add me as a CC contact so that I can message you through CC?

Thanks!

Trish

You can get to the RCCL Meet and Mingle Page from here. From there, you can either register or check the status of your M&M. I hope that helps!

Not sure what you mean by closed mouth? [emoji15]. Our meet and mingle was listed in advance as a confirmed party. Did your group meet the 25 person minimum? If you did, then I think it's pretty safe to assume you will have an invite in your cabin when you board.

Robyn, did they post anything on cruise critic or RCCL about your M&M party?before your cruise? We've seen nothing and when one of our guys questioned them they were very closed mouth about it.

They are being pretty stubborn about replacing it. Don't know if it is the HD or Miami. I started a thread about the lack of cushions and some folks emailed Michael Bayley, the new RCO CEO and he replied that there would be good furniture on the balcony but will continue to keep an eye on it. Right now, I am not going to accept an upgrade and will stay with our JSs as we get pool loungers and chairs. As I spend most of the day on the balcony, uncomfortable balcony furniture is a deal breaker for me and for my bad back. Edited by SherriZ366

Whew! I finally made it all the way through...and it was well worth the time spent!

Thank you so much Robyn, for taking the time to do this! I also appreciate all of the other members posting questions & info. We have sailed on Sovereign Class, Vision Class, Radiance Class and Voyager Class - so now we're moving up to the Freedom Class with FOS in February 2016 and her sister the Liberty in January 2017. I believe this thread every single question I had about this class ship!

So thank you very much! I look forward to more LIVE reports in the future - especially those Robyn posts! :)
