mtn_couple Posted February 11, 2015 #3 Share Posted February 11, 2015 We debark in Singapore and will spend a week or so exploring. Can you tell me if there are hire car companies close to the dock? Within walking distance with luggage and a 6 year old child?

Iluvcruising2 Posted February 11, 2015 #5 Share Posted February 11, 2015 (edited) We debark in Singapore and will spend a week or so exploring. Can you tell me if there are hire car companies close to the dock? Within walking distance with luggage and a 6 year old child? No hire car companies within walking distance. I wouldn't recommend hiring a car in Singapore. It is very expensive and parking is not always available, and sometimes costly. It is much easier to take public transport. If you have a 6 year old, then take taxis. Even with multiple daily taxi trips, it would still be cheaper than hiring a car. Trainer Posted February 11, 2015 #8 Share Posted February 11, 2015 Singapore has a great subway system. Clean, fast and easy to manage. Your 6-year old will probably love it. The river through the city is a nice place to walk. Parks along the way will give the child a place to work off energy. Singapore is very safe but don't break the rules! Killington Posted February 12, 2015 #9 Share Posted February 12, 2015 One great way to spend a day is to buy a one day pass on the river, the boats operate like a HOHO bus.
TeaBag Posted February 12, 2015 #10 Share Posted February 12, 2015 There is a cable car you can take to Sentosa which is a lovely place with a butterfly farm your 6 yr old would enjoy. I agree with the poster who mentioned the subway as another way of getting around. Singapore is lovely and very clean.
