Casino open during Alaskan cruise?

One of my all time great memories on a cruise was when we were sitting off of Hubbard Glavier on a perfectly sunny day in Alaska which is unusual. We were facing the glacier about a quarter mile from it. Here it was this huge tall glacier about a couple miles wide and you could hear what sounded like thunder from the glacier moving forward. Amazing. So the Captain announced they were going to turn the ship sideways and I knew I could get a picture from my room. So I ran downstairs to get to my room and went thru the casino. Guess what? There were people win there playing slot machines. So why were they on the cruise? I don't know. Anyway, I guess that means the casinos are open.

Since we are never in open sea......are casinos open? Thank you in advance.....

From what I've read, if your cruise leaves from Seattle, you will be in open sea, as you'll be cruising west of Vancouver Island so the casinos will be open; also, when you are not docked in the ports (Juneau, Skagway, etc.), the casinos will be open, then, as well. (Just for clarification, even when you are cruising the inside passage, you may not be in the open sea, but you are in "open water")

I agree with Grandpaul, about playing the slots, when you can viewing the natural beauty of things like the Hubbard Glacier-that's a sure winning bet!:D

Happy cruising!

On NCL, the casino opens in the evening after you leave Seattle. It's open anytime you are not in a port, but closes for good in the afternoon of the last day, when you are headed towards Victoria.
