knippsel Posted August 6, 2017 #1 Share Posted August 6, 2017 Can you pick up a shuttle transfer to central Amsterdam (Canal area) when you arrive, or must it be pre-booked (and prepaid)? There are just 2 of us, and we're arriving on Delta, which comes in to Arrivals #3, I think, if that makes a difference. We'd prefer a shuttle, rather than take the train with our luggage. Here in SFO, SuperShuttle and other transportation have a desk in the Arrivals area and there's no need to prearrange. Just wondering if AMS is the same. Thanks. wheezedr Posted August 6, 2017 #2 Share Posted August 6, 2017 Do not discount the train for convenience, cost and speed. The station is directly below the arrivals hall. The cost was 5.60€ and it is way faster than any mode of driving into the center city. We were at a hotel about a half mile from central station and it was a breeze. Had full large cases as we were on an 18 night trip.
Ine Posted August 7, 2017 #3 Share Posted August 7, 2017 As far as I know they prefer you to book since the vans are small to avoid possible waiting However of course you can always go to their office at the airport and check if you can join one of the shuttles. travellovers2 Posted August 7, 2017 #4 Share Posted August 7, 2017 First compare the cost of the shuttle vs a taxi to your hotel. We did and the taxi was 6 euros more, but it will take us directly to the hotel and we don't have to wait or prebook. Some hotels have the cost of a taxi from the airport posted on their website.
