Private car from Healthrow to Dover

Hi,

I have been trying to get quotes from several of the private transfer companies. Some people have recommended Woodford Chauffeurs and Dolphin which I have not been able to find on internet. Do any of you have their web address. Also I do have a quote from Smiths and from Coastal Cars. Coastal Cars seems to have the best price so far but can any of you recommend them. I have not seen their name mentioned in any posts. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Here are the links to their sites. Personally haven't used either, but have only heard good things on these boards about Woodford. I take it you are not interested in using public transport (which would be the National Express coach service from LHR to Dover, change at Victoria).

That's an expensive taxi ride. I see Dover Royal Taxis - http://www.dover-sherwantaxis.com/dover-taxis-prices.htm - want £145 for Heathrow to Dover.

If you can manage the luggage I would suggest that the coach or train is a better option.

Have a look here for an excellent description of the options: http://www.londontoolkit.com/travel/dover_train.htm

If you could find a flight to London Gatwick (LGW) that would be a better option.

I am taking National Express http://www.nationalexpress.com from Heathrow to Dover with a change at Victoria coach station in August for 21GPB/pp.

The National Express does not have a stop at the Dover dock. Sometimes the driver on ship days if asked will drop off passengers at the dock, give a tip, if not a taxi from the ferry terminal to the dock is cheap.

I will going to the ferry terminal and taking a taxi to our hotel.

There were 4 of us and we booked Eddie Manning's Limo (limo.co.uk)both to and from the port. Cost was 50 pounds per person and we were very pleased. We needed a large van since the guys were transporting golf clubs in addition to our luggage. :D

Thanks for all the info. Actually it would be too difficult to take public transit because my friends will be bringing 2 large suitcases each and a carryon for each too. It would be too hard to manage all that luggage, I'm afraid - we are not young. LOL. The best price I have found so far is the Coastal Cars at 135 pounds. I just haven't heard of anyone using them and was hoping for a recommendation from someone. I will look into Woodford too and see what they charge. Thanks again.

We have been using http://www.totallydriven.co.uk for years several times a year and are very satisfied. I believe they charge £145 and are well worth it.
