cruzin Phillis Posted June 4, 2013 #1 Share Posted June 4, 2013 Pregnant now but our cruise to Hawaii on the POA is only 17 short months away!!! I wanted to know if anyone has had any issues with traveling with kids, preferably a 1 year old? That is how old he will be by the time of our cruise. DH and I are traveling from Tx area. We are looking at driving on most of the islands except Kona. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!!!
092306 Posted June 4, 2013 #2 Share Posted June 4, 2013 We cruised with our son at 11 months and 14 months and both experiences were good. Bring a compact stroller with good shade and recline, more diapers than you think you will need and all meds like tummy, Tylenol etc even if you think you won't need them. There are some good packing lists on here if you search that will help to organize things for you. Hope you have a great family vacation!

gerif Posted June 6, 2013 #5 Share Posted June 6, 2013 It's so hard to say since babies can be very different in how they react to things and yours isn't here yet. For example, DGD was really difficult as a baby and toddler. She was horribly fussy and a screamer - basically couldn't take her anywhere (in fact, we were "uninvited" from some family holiday gatherings because she was so disruptive) - forget about taking her to any restaurant beyond McD's until she was nearly school age. She did outgrow it and is now nearly 17 and a National Honor Society student, but those first few years were a struggle. She had to be removed screaming from several restaurants until we finally gave up. No way she would have been welcome on a plane or a cruise. DGS, who came along a year later, was an absolute joy. Quiet and could amuse himself anywhere. Hope you get one of the quieter ones.

An easy baby can turn into a difficult toddler... and vice versa. Be prepared for anything and take more stuff than you think you will need.
