Double Charges for an Excursion
Our traveling companions booked a shore excusion for the 4 of us (We wanted to make sure that the reservations were linked). The on-line booking system was used. They paid for the 4 of us and the charges were posted on their credit card. About a week after making these reservations our TA paid the balance for our cruises. When we were presented with the Azamara receipt it showed that each couple was again being charged for the shore excursion (In other words we were being charged for 8 excusions when we only needed 4.) Our TA has been talking with Azamara (Azamara will only talk with the TA because the main reservation was made with a TA even though the excursions were made by the individuual.) about getting the double payment resolved and getting credit for the double payment is becoming very difficult. We have been instructed to cancel the on-line reservations--hopefully this will resolve the double payment and not cancel our shore excursion reservations.
It appears that Azamara has a problem with the on-line shore excusion booking system. The system should not let you book shore excursions until your cruise bill has been paid in full.
Has anyone else had this problem?

Shore excursion charges will show up on the guest invoice you receive from Azamarra. Just a suggestion but look at the original guest invoice you have from booking the cruise, then add this total to the amount you paid for the excursions and then subtract the totals you actually paid to Azamara and your TA. If the total is in fact higher then you were double billed. If that were the case your latest invoice should show a credit balance. Ask your TA to run a payment history on your reservation this will show all payments made and quickly locate the problem.

I have seen this happen and the fault was not Azamaras but the travel agent. The sum for excursions does appear on the invoice but also shows further on as paid. The agent can overlook that and ask the client to pay the first total they see on the invoice. We were refunded by the agent as soon as we spotted the error
