Hotels near cruise port in Quebec City

Recommended Posts

Start your search here changing the parameters as you see fit. Check out B&Bs as well as hotels and use the map to zero in on where you want to be (I always like to be inside the walls and you may want to be near the port in the Lower Town.) http://www.tripadvisor.ca/Hotels-g155033-Quebec_City_Quebec-Hotels.html

In November we stayed at Le Port Royal -- it was perfect!

Our rate was good, it was off-season. It was in a terrific area in the lower city, walking distance to everything --- on boarding morning, it was an easy walk to ship (four wheel luggage)

The room was large and modern. It had a full kitchen and separate seating area.

Quebec was fantastic!!! :) if you can squeeze in an extra day, we highly recommend it

Safety is not a concern. We have walked around the city at night often. So go by the location and reviews.

We tend to stay in budget places, usually in the off season. Recently we were at a B&B Auberge La Chouette. It is great for the price but is in the Upper Town just inside the walls.

We will be flying to Quebec City late the evening before our cruise. Since we've never been to Quebec City and our arrival will be quite late, we're looking for a hotel for the night that isn't too expensive. We've never been to Quebec City and don't know the area. We appreciate any advice or suggestions regarding hotel, transportation from airport to hotel, and from hotel to cruise port.

If it's a late enough arrival that you're just planning to sleep rather than go partying in QC, just keep things simple with an airport hotel.

There are many along Blvd Wilfrid Hamel right outside the airport although NB that the shuttles almost all cost cash now (IIRC $6pp, a cab is a fixed rate of $15) so next day just take a metered cab from the hotel straight downtown rather than shuttling back (the fixed-fare of CAN$34.25 is not much less than a metered cab, almost certainly worse value if you pay for a shuttle or another fixed $15 cab back to the airport to then pay another $34.35).

I believe the HoJo may still offer a free shuttle if you send them your itinerary enough in advance - but personally I'd go for the Repotel, Cofortel, Must, or Comfort Inn Airport East as they're easily walkable to the microbrewery Archibauld (some info in English) restaurant, open until 3am nightly if you want to sample some local brews with a late supper;-)

Thanks so much for the information and suggestions which are outstanding and didn't occur to us. Our flight arrives at 11:40pm so we were just planning on spending the night then going to the cruise port early the next morning. We're doing 3 B2B's so we'll be back in Quebec City and can tour then. In addition, it overnight's in Quebec City so there will be plenty of time to enjoy and experience the city.

We're on the Serenade on Sept 25th. Like you, all available flights from our area go through JFK and arrive in Quebec City quite late. I'll still researching hotels and let you know. And please let us know any information regarding hotels and taxi rates you find out.

Thanks

Cruzbuds Le port royal was a hotel I was considering for 3 days precruise. Was it a smooth walk with luggage or curb jumping etc? Would love to skip a taxi ride. Since it has a kitchen would love to find a grocery store close did you see one?

We thought it was an easy walk. The sidewalk isn't super smooth, there is just one street to cross and it was no problem later in the morning. We were worried when we expolred in the morning and rush hour was happening.

We each had two four wheel suitcases.

I'd guess the nearest grocery store is a mile or so away. You may want to consider renting a car for the day and going to the falls, St Anne's and Iisle De'Orleans. Hit a grocery store on the way back. Drop your suppiles then turn in the car.

We rented from Hertz, they have a location not too far from the hotel. They may pick you up. We did it the first day we were on the ship, we started the cruise with an overnight. They Hertz had a free shuttle both ways. It was really easy

Have fun, we loved its,
