remisture Posted February 28, 2017 #1 Share Posted February 28, 2017 Hi, We are planning on going with the Anthem from Cape Liberty in July, and will most likely fly to JFK and stay at a hotel in Manhattan a couple of days prior. What will be the easiest, quickest, and best transport from there to the port? Or will it be better to fly to Newark, and/or find a nearby hotel? Thank you. Clarea Posted February 28, 2017 #2 Share Posted February 28, 2017 Welcome to Cruise Critic. Transportation around the NY area is complicated. I suggest you also post this in the East Coast Departures forum so more of the NY experts will see it: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=

Sascol Posted February 28, 2017 #5 Share Posted February 28, 2017 We use Carmel car service. Not much more expensive then a cab (within 10-20%), you can arrange it in advance and the cars are MUCH nicer than a cab. We also take the service from the airport into Manhattan. Flying through Newark is suggested, particularly on the return leg. Manhattan hotels can be very expensive, which is why many folks choose to stay in NJ and take the train and/or PATH to get into Manhattan. As Bob said transportation can be complicated and expensive. Car service between NY and NJ (instead of cabs) is recommended. Car service from Cape Liberty to JFK can run $120+. Car service from Manhattan to Cape Liberty can run $100+. Taxi from JFK to Manhattan runs about $75. Newark to Cape Liberty runs $55-65. There are less expensive public transit, train, and airport bus options that are accessible with luggage. cruzzzinma Posted February 28, 2017 #7 Share Posted February 28, 2017 We used Dial7 (http://www.dial7.com) several times last year between Manhattan/Cape Liberty and Cape Liberty/LGA. They come when they say, the vehicles are clean and the drivers very polite. We've booked in advance and we've called for an immediate pickup at the airport - both work.
