  1. Thank you so much for the reply. The cruise base fare was only $650 pp when I booked it over a year ago (inside cabins). It is considerably higher now and the ship is more or less sold out anyway at this point. A room pops up one day and disappears the next. Sounds like it may not be worth the hassle and some risk of being charged a single supplement for the room anyway.
  2. @Ourusualbeach one last question. I am finalizing plans - cruise is May 17. My companion who is the no show is in a 28-day inpatient alcohol rehab program. I do have the travel insurance that the online TA offered. I am going to try to get a full refund of the one cruise fare. Should I file with the insurance company now, or after the cruise is over? I feel like it's hard to file anything for a cruise the companion has not missed yet.
  3. Thank you! My two 18 year olds will be right next door so should be okay I guess.
  4. Do I need to notify my online TA and/or RCI what’s going on or just have him no show?
  5. I know it’s an old thread but I can’t find one mor recent. The website, today, says connecting rooms. If so I have a problem I need solved in less than 2 weeks.
  6. I have a situation coming up. I booked RCI for May, 2024. Two adjacent rooms. They are even in a secret hallway together with their own extra locking hallway door to just those two rooms. Booked husband in one room with one 18 year old and me next door with the other. Husband will not be going due to an unforeseen issue. @Ourusualbeach you’re saying I am okay? You’re a TA?
  7. I’ll have a parfait then smoked salmon benedict. Coffee with full fat cream. Be right there.
  8. I was in a grand suite on Carnival Legend and Cloud9 on Radiance. I wouldn’t pay more than a 20% premium for the first or 10 for the second. I believe I actually paid more for my half of the grand suite than a solo balcony room would have cost.
  9. My room didn’t have a sofa or even an easy chair though there was more than ample floor space. Greg has a nice chair now but no idea if they smartened up and added to the Vista rooms. The sea boom sound was mostly at night on the first and last nights when cap’n was running full bore over open water to leave US soil behind and get us towards Central America and later the same in reverse. Otherwise the room was extremely silent. I am a bit claustrophobic and loved the airy open floor plan and I liked the view from the window out over the deck during daylight. You have to close your curtains at night. Never saw any kids that way. Those rooms are all doubles I think so mostly adult couples.
  10. I only watch about 5 movies a year but Fall Guy looks just about dumb enough for me to enjoy. Saw Barbenheimer last year. Both were great but you can guess which met my mandatory dumb threshold.
  11. I have occasionally wondered if cruise lines should offer a few pirate themed rooms with ship hammocks rather than beds. Different kind of swingers.
