  1. We don't drink alcohol, so when we want to see a show in one of the clubs we'll just have the server bring us ice water. Of course, we ALWAYS tip the server. Can we also ask for iced tea or coffee, and would there be a charge for it?
  2. We flew out of Montreal as well. I looked at airfare and found flights from Montreal are quite a bit less expensive, perhaps because it's a larger airport with more flights? Montreal certainly has more options.
  3. Guess I'm just a cynic but if NCL were to change the testing rules on the day of their earnings report I would think that would be pretty upsetting to those who set sail in the days just before. It would be sad to go through all the effort of getting the tests just to learn NCL only made you do it because they wanted to withhold announcement until earnings day. But I guess marketers rule!
  4. I don't know what you have planned for Quebec City, but would it work to take their shuttle to Montreal airpor on the day cruise ends, then pick up a rental car there for the extra day and return to Montreal airport before your flight? There are lots of great sights in Montreal. And if you don't want to rent a car you can probably find an airport hotel with free shuttle.
  5. Some piers are great, others not so much. How is the boarding process in Los Angeles, specifically for Haven. We sailed from the new Miami terminal this Spring and thought that was pretty good, well organized. New York was not nearly as nice.
  6. Haven checkin in Miami is great! They had a kiosk outside before we even went inside the terminal. We showed our paperwork there and someone escorted us to a special checkin counter where we got our cards, then we were escorted to the Haven lounge. Lots of snacks available while we waited, and then someone escorted us onto the ship to the muster station. Overall, best checkin ever. Kinda wierd though, from the Haven lounge you overlook the "regular" masses below, which looks more like a typical airport terminal (still pretty nice).
  7. Both of those items require a manditory built-in gratuity. So if you will drink more that amount, beverage package is a good deal. Likewise, if you want to eat at specialty restaurants that's a good deal too. Remember, though, if there are more than two in your room the costs for additional packages for them adds up. If this is your first trip on NCL you might forego the dining this time around and see if you're satisfied with the truly free venues
  8. We were in the Breakaway Haven in Aprl of this year and much to my surprise found a pre-printed card already in the slot. I can't remember the exact message but the gist was that this was there to keep the lights and outlets on. Certainly never had that before, but this was our first Haven cruise so maybe that's what they do.
  9. I've read the T&C several times, still not sure whether I get a Platinum coupon for two persons but my wife in the same room doesn't get one or whether we each get one, so therefore could also take a friend or two. One place it says it's a benefit for each platinum guest but another seems to say it's per room, so I get a certificate for two but my wife doesn't. Anyone have real-life experience?
  10. I think the kids' menu is the same and boring because that's what most kids want. I know my granddaughter would have gladly had chicken nuggets for every meal, no surprises. But as the kids grow and get more adventurous, just get them new adventures from the adult menu. You can ask to substitute different vegetables if you want, for example fries instead of something green. If you include the adult menu selections there's no limit to the new tastes they can try. And if they just absolutely won't eat what you ordered swing by the buffet after and let them pick what they want, to eat there or take back to the cabin.
  11. Seashark makes a good point: yes, the cruise lines can cancel us and sell our cabin's to someone else...but it goes both ways , because WE can cancel if WE find a better deal first as long as it's before final payment. We can cancel and go to another line, and we can even cancel and rebook with the same line at a better price. So yes, it's a bummer if they cancel us but I think most of us have cancelled on them a time or two also. Before Covid and the staffing issues it was pretty rare for the lines to cancel a cruise after the final payment cutoff date. Maybe someday things will be normal again.
  12. I usually arrange my own air but I looked at using the air promo on an upcoming cruise since I finish in Vancouver. The charge for the second passenger was about what I would pay for both my wife and I if booked my own. But adding in a third passenger at the NCL price was WAY more than I could do on my own.
  13. We have two connecting cabins for parents and 4 kids and our PCC assures me that he has "linked" these reservations. But i haven't been able to find a description from NCL of exactly what that means. I've become concerned because of what happened on POA recently where some cruisers were cancelled while others still get to go...what if one of our cabins is cancelled? Or if a passenger on one reservation gets Covid and that cabin can't go? Has anyone here ever had "linked" cabins and used that feature?
  14. Though my PCC booked it and said just use a bogus birth date for one guest in kids cabin I did a chat on the web page and chat agent says it's not possible, he didn't even know the web says it is. Sounds like they're a bit confused. Rather than fight it out with the agent at the pier I'll probably just split the adults on the booking. Good thing I'm not a single parent with 4 kids, I'd be out of luck
  15. We are travelling with kids in two connecting room.. We want both adults in one room with a young child and three teens in the connecting room. I know I've read on CC that this is allowed. My PCC insists that the way to do this is that he's listed the 18 year old as 32! He says then they can change that birth date at the pier when they check in. I'm concerned that when we get to the pier the agent will say she's never heard of that or something. Or that the 19 year old's latitudes account will be all screwed up. Is our PCC right, has anyone successfully done this? Is there a better way? In the past we've put one adult in the second room, but then we have to get the twin beds changed after we're on board and get extra keys made, we'd rather not do that. Surely this happens all the time, but both of these work-arounds seem unnecessarily complicated. What do they do with a single parent and two rooms of kids?
