  1. Try calling the main PVP number, without the extension number for your PVP, and explain that you don't seem to be able to get hold of your PVP and that you have an urgent issue that needs resolving.
  2. First time on Princess for us. We did score an amazing last minute deal on a Carnival suite some years ago though. It was only a hundred or so dollars more than an aft balcony cabin.
  3. We bought it at Jaycar and they actually have them on sale at the moment. $3.95. https://www.jaycar.com.au/indoor-desk-thermometer/p/QM7316?pos=15&queryId=c0f16a2821ff8290e2000ca477b9bb4f&sort=relevance
  4. You're on the 26th June cruise? If you want to borrow my thermometer after a couple of days you'll be welcome to. We've treated ourselves to a suite on that cruise. Post here once the cruise starts and we can work something out.
  5. That photo was taken around 11:30pm in an inside cabin on Sea Princess with the air-con set to its lowest setting. The thermometer was on the desk near the bathroom door, the aircon outlet was close to the TV and the cabin door was on the other side. The cool air from the air-con never reached as far as the beds, it went straight out the door unless a fan was positioned so that it blew diagonally across the air-con airflow. The inside cabins on the Grand class ships had a similar problem. I can't recall if there was a similar issue in balcony cabins on the Royal class ships.
  6. Thank you. I now carry a small room thermometer so can check the cabin temp from cruise to cruise.
  7. I set it to the coldest setting as soon as I arrive in the cabin on embarkation day and that's been too warm for me on cruises in the last couple of years before the shutdown. Our last Celebrity cruise, in March 2019, was the same yet on previous Celebrity cruises the lowest temp was most too cool - the first thing I did after waking on those cruises was to turn the air-con up, but the last cruise was too warm and it was later in the season than the others. Cruise lines cutting costs on air-con?
  8. I've never felt too cool inside a Princess ship and I usually wear quite light clothing in the evenings. The MDRs, theatre etc have the air-con set for a full venue so if you are sensitive to cooler temps and the MDR or theatre isn't full you would notice it.
  9. I never had a problem with the temps in the public areas but the cabin temps at night were too warm for me in the last couple of years. So much so I now take a fan onboard as part of the problem was the location of the air-con outlet - the cool air didn't circulate through the cabin, it went out towards the door. Ideally I like a temp of 18C or lower for sleeping. Normally the thermostats in hotels and on earlier cruises had 22C as the mid-point temp but in the last couple of years that was the lowest setting.
  10. We bought ours in 2016 through St George Bank. So with Commsec do you have to transfer funds into USD before you can buy shares?
  11. I'm not sure what you mean by that. When we bought our shares our bank account was just debited with the cost -ie the price of the shares in USD converted to AUD using the exchange rate at the time of the transaction.
  12. That's one of the joys of the stock market. Shares can go up or down while your transaction is being processed. There isn't anything you can do about it. And for US shares you also have exchange rate fluctuations to deal with.
  13. P&O might be the only regular Australian cruise line that doesn't allow you to select your cabin, although with Cunard what you see as available depends on which fare option you choose. We have been able to select cabins on Princess, Celebrity and Carnival, and could see available cabins on Royal Caribbean even though we chose a guarantee cabin.
  14. It's a bit silly to blame Carnival Corp just because the US stock market has crashed. All stocks have been affected not just Carnival Corp.
  15. Do a search in this board, port by port, and you'll see lots of recommendations and comments about excursions.
  16. The Princess drinks prices didn't increase every year. From memory they stayed pretty much the same from the first cruise we did in 2014 to when the lists I photographed in Sept 2019 came out which may have been earlier that year. And at that time the prices on a couple of our favourite cocktails actually went down.
  17. Or just an extension of Crooners. If they're smart they'll install another espresso machine there and make it a cafe part of Crooners.
  18. So are you hosting a big birthday party onboard for all your Cruise Critic mates? 😁😁😁
  19. We've taken the Aldi travel power boards on a number of cruises without any problems. The aren't surge protected so are OK on ships plus they come with four plug types so suit amost everywhere. We usually pack it in one of our carry- ons.
  20. Since Coral is homeporting here for a couple of years or more I'm expecting the 220v circuit sockets to be changed to Australian ones. It's just a socket plate change and they've had 2.5 years to do it. The other ones will be US 120v.
  21. But if you have a covered balcony that's good enough to stop the sun shining in your cabin windows if you happen to be on the sunny side of the ship, but may give some sun on the balcony itself.
  22. Thanks Cbtours. I'm sure there will be plenty of questions as the first few cruises kick off. I was just considering starting a "Live from Coral Princess" thread to cover all the restart cruises but this will probably morph into that once the cruises start.
  23. It would be on the Waimakariri River outside of Christchurch. Before the quake Christchurch was beautiful with many lovely old stone buildings, glorious gardens and enough places of interest to kerp you busy for several days. I visited Christchurn many times when I lived in NZ and we last visited Christchurch in 2007. I haven't the heart to go back there at the moment, I prefer to remember it as it was.
  24. Which ship? Some ships have covered balconies on some or most decks so on a cruise like that it won't matter that much. I presume it's a cruise that travels across the bottom of Australia so for most of the cruise the sun will be overhead during the day, and setting behind the ship.
  25. First trying going in through Princess.com.au and see what happens. Also if you have been clicking on links from Princess Facebook offers that aren't specifically for the Australian market those will come up in US pricing, and any s p ecial offers may not apply here. Go to the Princess Australia website directly. The banners will show what offers are available here. The other possibility is that you are using a browser that conceals your location so the Princess website thinks you're in the US.
