  1. Fly in early and stay on St John (yes I am biased LOL) - best beaches and more laid back than St Thomas and make sure you have a painkiller at Gertrudes on Jost (much better than Soggy Dollar as it is "pour your own" and use a great rum)
  2. Hi everyone, I was just reading a trip report here where they were sailing Tahiti in September where they encountered 10' to 12' swells (yikes) so just wondering what the seas might be like in January and is this something we might encounter at that time of year? I know you can't predict the weather (I actually run a 50' sailing catamaran in the US Virgin Islands so I know what "typical" seas and swells are like on any given month and can help our guests when they have questions regarding a typical swell) but just wondering what might be typical in Tahiti in January. Thank you for any insight (and hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving)
  3. Thank you so much for this info. I think we have decided to sail Windstar in January Tahiti to Tahiti only and then in October cruise with Celebrity Sydney, New Zealand, Tasmania, Sydney
  4. Hello everyone - might anyone have any suggestions as how to fly from Tahiti to Sydney Australia? Trying to figure out how to coordinate cruises on Windstar then catching a Celebrity in Australia and I am coming up short. This would be in 2024 and I know way too early to book flights, but looking at what is available in January 2023 it seems I can fly back to the States and then to Australia (not happening) or have about a 12 hour layover in New Zealand. Any help is appreciated
  5. Thank you and I'm sure we will go have a wander around for fun - the video looks great
  6. Thank you so much - we are looking forward to experiencing it
  7. Thank you - we just returned from Athens to Venice on the Onward - fun time.
  8. I know, strange topic probably (for most) but hubby decided he wanted to see the new mega ships as we always sail either on Celebrity, Azamara (600 people) or SeaDream (110 people) so for fun and for him to check it off the bucket list we booked the short 4 day cruise on Wonder and Coco Cay is a stop so how does this work exactly being the private island for RC ... is food included, are drinks included (if you have the alcohol package) or is everything for purchase? We will probably stay on the ship anyway but figured I would ask here so we at least know what to expect (I did look at photos and boy it definitely is a theme park LOL) Thanks everyone
  9. Thank you - when do you think that might be announced?
  10. Nope ... it was horrendous in August (after 8 minutes of trying to connect - while in port - and only half a page loaded I gave up and used my phone with instant connection)
  11. Maybe try Chocobar Cortes (and maybe try a Chocolate Old Fashioned) but definitely eat at Marmalade .. https://www.chocobarcortes.com/about-us/
  12. Thanks for taking us along - what cabin category were you in please (and cabin number)
  13. We found it much easier to use our cell phones for internet use on our previous Onward cruise vs the complimentary wifi - after trying to load yahoo, and after 8 minutes and the page only being half loaded, I gave up and went to my phone where it instantly connected. Obviously only good when in port.
  14. Such a quiet forum right now so thought I thought I would post a question to see if anyone is out there 😀 So we just booked our 3rd SD cruise for March for my big birthday (Caribbean) and I now know on the SD website it states "no shorts" for men for dinner but as most (if not all) dinners are served on deck outside in the heat, and after looking through the photos from our last two cruises, I know hubby wore a polo and nice shorts to dinner (probably not every night but I see some nights for sure in the photos) so asking was he the only one ??? I know just how hot Caribbean evenings can be and I don't remember him being out of place or looking disrespectful in his appearance, so either some of the other guests also wore shorts or no-one noticed or if they did they didn't care. I can't imagine anyone asking him to change as SD is such a great atmosphere and all guests we encountered (for the most part) weren't snobs - well one couple tried to put on some fake airs and graces that I just can't be bothered with - so my question is, have any of you other gentlemen ever "broken the rules" ? (to be honest I don't think I even read the dress code before it's just I'm laying here bored with my foot in a cast, so thought I would dream for March and read the SD website haha) Thanks everyone
  15. Good afternoon, we are currently on the Onward and I am wondering what the situation with TV is on the other Azamara ships (I know a strange question to ask but 🤣) There is very limited TV and as far as the movies go, we get one movie that is shown throughout the day but if you miss the starting time you have to wait three hours before it starts again or you have to watch from what ever point it is you turned the TV on. I am used to having “on demand” movies on the other cruise lines with a large selection - this is like going back to the 1990s 🤣 We are booked on the Onward for the world cruise so were thinking of downloading movies but we have spoken to Concierge and there is no way to hook your personal device to the TV. They have been made aware from many guests that the TV situation is not good so I am wondering if “on demand” type movies are currently available on the other ships and if so hopefully they will upgrade the Onward
  16. Good evening - just a few questions for anyone who might have arrived at the Athens airport recently.. 1. Our flight lands at 11:30am (Athens) - how long do you think it will take to clear Customs upon arrival 2. I have found a taxi company (my transfers) to our hotel in Athens (Electra Palace, Navarchou Nikodimou 18-20, 10557 Athens) and they are showing cost of €45 + (depends on the type of vehicle you reserve) - is that price about right and should I pre-book or should I just get one upon arrival Thank you everyone
  17. Not "directly" related to a current Azamara cruise, but as there are so many seasoned travelers here, does anyone have a recommendation for a hotel in Barbados please. I have tried the search bar but there are thousands of links using the word "hotel" (with Barbados) but they are for hotels in every possible embarkation port worldwide and it will take hours to try to sort through them. Thanks so much if anyone has a nice recommendation.
