1. It's going to take weeks if not months to clear roads and hiking trails of debris. The forest is pretty much defoliated right now. But that's the cycle of nature. It will heal itself in under a year. In Puerto Rico, you throw a coconut on the ground, blink, and you'll have a palm tree already growing.

    Hello Aviator

    Happy you weathered the Hurricane's.

    I like your analogy. :D

Hubby n I visited San Juan last year and toured the Fort and San Juan.

Was planning the Rain Forest this year but that's out.

Carnival swapped our St Thomas and San Juan with Bahamas. :(

Hoping it will change but doubtful.

I guess we'll just have to plan for next year.

So sorry your Beautiful Island is in such devastation.

  2. I found my family! Everybody is fine, some structural damages to houses (my in-laws) and others (my mom) with very little damage. My heart is so full. Puerto Rico is united, everybody is doing whatever they can to help others and the human spirit is category 10. María most certainly did not destroy the humanity of my people.

I just saw a video from someone in Bayamón who already has power. The governor and the major of San Juan have been nothing but true class through all this. They look exhausted but they haven't stopped working. Help is massive from the US government and the diaspora in the states.

I am hopeful! The picture is not rosy, there are still areas without communication and the destruction is real. It will be a long way to recovery but if people/governments keep doing what they are we may be surprised at how much sooner that is. Don't give up on my beautiful island!

Such a relief for you. I am so happy to hear your Mom is safe.

I have been to Puerto Rico 3 times and my 4th in December.

Such a beautiful place with friendly people.

Is there anything we cruisers can bring, besides our money, to help in any way.

We did a fundraiser at work and raised over 200.00. I work long term care. Our

residents wanted to help in some way. Amazing.

Our hearts are with you and your family.

  3. Here's a link to my photo review of #2. It was a great tour. You may want to read the whole thread because I elaborated on some things after my initial post. Let me know if you have any questions. And good luck deciding!

Just read your post and loved your pic's.

I can only imagine the devastation now, after Maria.

Had planned a rain forest tour in December.

I still hope we can make it to Puerto Rico.

My Heart goes out to all.

    Thanks for posting.

  4. On our first B2B had same room. Met in Dining room. They had juice, coffee, H2O, and pastry. They issued new S&S cards. Then off the p and through customs. 1/2 hour. Back on board for group photo in Atrium. WARNING. Once you do B2B you'll never go back. We booked same cruise, same cabin, same time.

  5. We boarded our B to B the Friday after Thanksgiving. They were starting to decorate when we were boarding. Decorated all week and by the 2nd cruise they were in full decoration. They had a Christmas party and tree lighting. And an Ugly sweater party. It was Magical. We were on the Magic.

Had so much fun booked the same B to B for this year, same time, same cabin.

  6. Welcome Back Jeff and Patti.

I saw you were back and starting your review during the week.

But saved reading it until this morning, with my coffee and a quiet house.:p

Fabulous as always. Love your reviews. Thanks so much for taking the time to do them.

Happy Anniversary and CONGRATULATIONS to Patti on Retirement plans. Always good to have a plan.

We might just see you on the Magic. Our favorite ship. Especially after dry dock.

    Glad you had safe travels.

    Mary n Dave

  7. CONGRATS ON YOUR 28 YEARS OF EMPLOYMENT AND HOPE YOU HAVE

    A GREAT RETIREMENT.

I LOVE TEXAS. OUR DAUGHTERS LIVE THERE SO WE VISIT AS OFTEN AS WE CAN.

HOW FAR FROM THE PORT ARE YOU? WISH WE LIVED CLOSER TO A PORT.

HUBBY WAS ACTUALLY LOOKING FOR LAND IN TEXAS TODAY. :p

WERE ACTUALLY CRUISING ABOUT THE SAME TIME AS YOU EXCEPT ON THE MAGIC OUT OF PORT CONAVERAL. LOVE THE MAGIC.

    HAPPY SAILS AND CONGRATS.

  8. I did some further searching, and found this on John Heald's FB page:

For some months we had our DJs playing on the Lido deck. Many of you here told me how much you missed the sounds of live Caribbean/Calypso music and so our entertainment team here in Miami have started to place live music back on the open decks. We now have Caribbean/Calypso duos on:

    • Breeze

    • Conquest

    • Dream

    • Ecstasy

    • Freedom

    • Liberty

    • Magic

    • Pride

    • Valor

    • The Glory will receive a duo on February 27, 2016;

    • The Splendor will receive a duo on March 20, 2016.

More ships will follow after that and I will keep you informed

    Thanks for researching Beachbum.

Looking forward to our B2B even more now.

    Love the Steel Drum Bands.

  9. I know you can get Bloody Mary's, mimosa's and Screwdrivers at Brunch.

Just wondered if you can get Bailey's with coffee? At Brunch.?

We plan on purchasing for first leg of B2B for our next cruise.

If we pre-purchase now and price goes up prior to our cruise, (as I anticipate) do you think we would be locked in, in price???

Glad to hear all The Alchemy drinks are include. Can't wait to try a drink there. :p

  10. I love Guys Burgers.

They are juicy and the meat is cooked well. The melty cheese has a great texture - it sticks to the burger without disintegrating into the burger and disappearing. It gives the right bun to meat ratio. And then the toppings are plentiful and varied. If you want to kick things up a notch, you can also head over to the Blue Iguana to add some salsa or hot sauce.

I like the Ringer with the onion ring and bourbon BBQ sauce (that sauce is quite literally - awesome sauce).

And the Chipotle mayo is the best dip for the fries.

Thanks for posting a delicious PIC of Guy's n Fry's. YUM.

    BTW. Enjoying your review.

  11. Now this sounds like fun.

Doing a B2B so this would be fun on the last day of the First leg.

No worry's about packing cuz we'll be staying in the same cabin.:p

I will bring something to take notes.

Haven't been to an Alchemy Bar yet. I think The Magic will be getting

in Dry Dock scheduled for 2/21/16.

    Anyone know for sure?

  12.
They will know you have a B2B. Gone are the days where you could enjoy that first week's purchase the second week!
Just concerned if we purchased on an island that it would still be available for pick up the last day of the 2nd leg.

We like to try new cocktails back home. Always more fun when purchases on vacation, stuff you can't get back home.

    Thanks.
  13. The Magic is a great ship!

Red Frog Pub was so much fun and the Ocean Plaza has so many fun activities, every morning they had a little continental breakfast set up so it was just a nice, quite place to have coffee and a little something to eat.

We Agree as well. We loved the Red Frog Pub. I hope that stays since they plan on putting the Red Frog Bar on the Lido.

Magic is now our Favorite ship. Looking at a Nov 2016 sailing.
