    YOUR LOSS-YOUR FEAR IS REAL

I am not fearful for myself as I’ve repeatedly said.  …. I currently have Covid from my Horizon sailing last week, of course I am vaccinated and boosted so my symptoms are mild.  However I actually care about the employees and others all over the world that will be effected by another complete shutdown when the unvaccinated start dying on ships again.  The vaccinated and unvaccinated are both just as susceptible to contacting Covid..  it’s the severity of the virus that is the issue .  In just sorry that so many of you dont get this, are caught up in ridiculous conspiracy theories or just don’t care

I have not been on a ship since December 2019 and was sick in 2021.  Nothing to do with a ship.

Exactly!!!  You were hospitalized!     If you got Covid again..(my daughter has had it twice, vaccinated of course so no symptoms) on a ship..  unvaccinated..  much higher chance of hospitalization and/or death..  that’s the point.  If you choose to risk yourself that’s your choice..  but when this starts happening to the unvaccinated on a ship..  and it will..  the media will destroy the industry

Well, I am NOT vaccinated, I was hospitalized, I'm not dead and as soon as Carnival drops the vaccine requirement, I will be on one of their ships.  I do get that I should be cruising very soon and that is my point.

You were hospitalized..  that’s the point.  That’s happens on a ship,  the media will start the “petry dish” narrative..  again. Boom a shutdown they won’t survive.  You just made my point

NCL here I come!! Hey, cruisin from vegas, do you ever enter a hotel here in sin city?

Of course I do.  I still mask in large crowds, or avoid them.  I’m not living there for 7 days . I avoid crowded elevators etc.  I just got Covid last week on the Horizon.  I’ll never got it here for over two years… or two other cruises earlier this year with masks.. sooo…. Again you don’t get it..  I’m vaccinated  and double boosted and still got it.  But I’m NOT DEAD or hospitalized..  the unvaccinated will also get it on ships… but they will be sicker and more will die.  Then the media will close down the cruse industry.  That’s the point

  5. I just got off Horizon Sunday….  You are 100% correct.  Public areas .., inside..  are sweltering.  Casino most of the time, shops, lounges, hallways? Restaurants, and elevators are suffocating (probably where I got Covid) .  Yes tested positive yesterday..  my cabin was perfect, but there is most definitely something wrong with the AC in most other areas

  6. In addition….  The FB group I belong to has been posting positive Covid tests all day….and now  I did too.  I masked, carried around sanitizer, avoided very crowded elevators when I could…. But it still got me.  Good news is I’m vaccinated  and double boosted so I’m not sick at all..  I’m still glad I went

We sailed Horizon last November. One of the best cruises we've had... But there were just 2600 ppl aboard. We are on her again in  November this year. I'm keeping fingers crossed. We thought the buffet was decent, so I'm wondering if we aren't choosey or if offerings have gone downhill. May I asked what you did in Bonaire...

I took the Carnival “Best of Bonaire” excursion, and it was a great.  Very informative, saw flamingos in the wild..  and donkeys..  lots of historical sights…. I really enjoyed it.

I'm doing this same itinerary August 6th. I'm really hoping for the best.  Thank you for the review.  Was Cucina del Capitano opened for dinner?

No , just pasta at lunch…. However, I just heard they are going to be open for dinner again very soon

  9. I’m not going to write a day by day review (although I really appreciate those who do)

First this sailing was 4600 according to CD, well over 100% capacity…. And it showed.  Very long lines everywhere…. Close to 2 hour line for pizza after 11 pm.    Could never get in a comedy show

    Thoughts/Observations

    The fabulous:

    the crew, everyone of them

the CD, Donkey- I usually don’t care

    My room steward K

    jijis (my favorite)

The MDR (I loved everything they had)

The ship (Vista class is my favorite)

    Serenity (surprisingly not over crowded)

my cabin and the temp in my cabin only

(Inside, deck 11..  free casino deal)

embarkation (10 mins total from shuttle to deck) used VeriFLY

    drink service on lido deck

Ports;  Aruba, Bonaire, La Romana and Amber Cove- loved them all, beautiful on their own way

    Good

Debarkation - no problems, just took a little longer due to crowds

shows - the ones I saw were good

    casino atmosphere/variety of machines

    Most room service items

Behavior of the many kids (no problems that I saw)

    Casino drink servers

    shops- pretty weak selection actually

im going to jump to horrible

buffet- the worst on my 20+ cruises, and not just the fact there were no seats available..  ever.  The food was nearly inedible.  Desserts were great, Icecream and gelato great…. But that’s it.

guys burgers-  just not good anymore.  Dry cold buns, cheese not melted, no mushrooms..  smaller.  Fries terrible, just not the same sadly.

The behavior of many adults on this trip. Rude, disrespectful, selfish, treated the crew like dirt, the longest line I’ve ever seen to remove gratuities, ignoring all elevator etiquette (purposely and willfully), pushing and shoving…. Seriously, the worst I’ve ever seen and I’m a past Carnival crew member.  Entitled jack as..s.

lastly, the temperature throughout the public areas…. Hot hot hot hot..  stifling, suffocating.  The elevators were unreal, even if no one else was on it.

I would definitely do this ship and itinerary again, but not this time of year.  The kids were fine…. The parents not so much.

I did not exact in the steak house or blue iguana, or see any comedy shows.  I did not go to the spa.

    any questions..  just ask

  10. I wouldn’t choose anything else.  I live eating when I want to. I’ve never waited more that 10 minutes for a table, the time it takes to walk there.  I choose to not eat with strangers, I’ve never cared about “same wait staff”..  I, would never choose set time if I had the option.

Recently I read an article that concluded that Las Vegas casinos would not be adversely impacted if they banned smoking, because generally the clientele would simply adapt, as they have elsewhere in their lives.  Ah, here's an article about it:

    https://www.reviewjournal.com/business/casinos-gaming/smoking-ban-no-longer-a-threat-to-casino-revenue-report-says-2594067/

So while smoking on ships in the casino is probably here for a little while longer, maybe it can one day become the reverse of what it is today on some ships: the smoking casino is isolated, away from the main thoroughfare, while the main casino is smoke-free for the enjoyment of all the non-smoking guests, who currently have to walk through it or find annoying detours.

Wrong!!!! I am a retired casino marketing professional and have lived in Las Vegas and been in this industry for 30+ years,  any attempt at a non-smoking casino has failed, miserably.  That article is propaganda being promoted by a non-smoking group , and has literally no value.  Most casinos have a non smoking section or area…. And they are usually less than 50% occupied.  However, that’s not the real reason.  The “spend” and “hours spent” by smokers is huge and …. In other words , even if there are less smokers (which I’ve never seen on any report) they spend about 60-70% of the gaming take.  Until that changes…. Las Vegas will never go non smoking

  12. Lax at midnight on day of departure ?  Well hopefully you’ll get there then.  That’s not usual right now.  Be prepared for delays Or worse.  I live in Vegas and fly down there all the time, the last cruise I took on Panorama in February, 14 hours of delay and then cancellation..  should have driven.  I sincerely hope your plans go well!  When you get to LAX at that time, you will most likely have to exit the gate area, especially if you are checking luggage.  There are areas by luggage claim that have chairs.  There will be nothing open, until about 6 am.  There is a Starbucks that opens around that time. If you are taking carnival transportation to the port, it meets in that area around 9-10 am.  If possible, you really should get an airport hotel room that has free shuttle and a 24 hour front desk.  The Holiday Inn Express is what I always use.  The Panorama is a beautiful ship…. My absolute favorite and that itinerary is fabulous!!  Have fun!!
