  1. I’m not sure about the medical condition side as I only take medication for high blood pressure, but an annual policy with Liverpool Insurance (am in mid 60s) just cost me £79 for cover in Europe. Each missed port is £150 compensation. I have other insurances with LV so get a 10% discount. Bizarrely an annual policy only cost me an extra £15 in comparison to a 7 day policy with them.
  2. All the outside cabins I’ve had on D deck and E deck have had big square windows.
  3. So will that be “do you think I’m sexy” or “hot legs”……🤣🤣🤣
  4. My heart goes out to you as I know how I would be feeling and it is what we all dread…..😘
  5. That’s good to know. I had friends on board so will pass that info on as always good to know of a happy outcome.
  6. I’ve just had a day out. Leaving home at 7am this morning and on joining the M27 around 7.30am google maps diverted me off the M27 due to an accident ahead with long delays. I then found myself on the M271 and then over the familiar flyover when you see the ships docked at Mayflower Terminal. I couldn’t believe my luck as Aurora was in and looking fabulous in the sunshine. And then as I went past Ocean Terminal - there was Ventura. So for once, I really quite enjoyed my diversion this morning! Hopefully no one was seriously injured in the accident.
  7. Something you might want to consider is booking the The Retreat for the week. It will already be available to book and will probably cost around £120 for the week which I know might stretch resources, but….. It’s an adults only area and numbers are limited. I’m a solo traveller and going on Iona in June so some of the info you have been given is useful for me too (eg being able to pre-book a shared table for around 6.15) as I’m normally on the smaller P&O ships! I’m sure you will have a wonderful time.
  8. I would agree about Tunis. One of the few places where I felt distinctly uncomfortable……
  9. Am envious! Loved my cruise on her a few weeks ago. Have a lovely holiday.
  10. Good morning! All good here in Dorset - not cold, but a tad damp! Just been for unleaded petrol. 144p, so I think about average. Have a good week everyone and despite our dire weather, we are lucky not to be in Corfu or Rhodes.
  11. I’m already looking forward to your Iona review @Selbourne if you have the time and the signal. I’m giving it a go in early June next year for a week (after half term and hopefully before kids on holiday), so will be most interested in your thoughts and experiences. Thanks for taking the time to post whilst you were on Britannia.
  12. I feel the same about Selbourne’s posts from his cruise. I really feel like I’m on board too. Re the family next door to you - why is there always a minority of parents who can’t or won’t discipline and/or put down boundaries for their children. But that’s a whole other subject and probably not for this forum 🤣
  13. Is that a HAL cruise? Think you may get more knowledgeable answers on their forum. Not sure if Holland America are any better at answering their phones, but they may be worth a call. Oops - sorry just seen that you get same message from P&O site. Apologies!
  14. Best way to consume grapes is in wine….🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷
  15. @Sheila127 which ship? I ask this because it can depend on sunbed/chair availability on deck if you like being outside. As a solo traveller too, I have done on inside & always sleep incredibly well at any time of the day! Outside cabin without a balcony is a good compromise. But if you can afford it, a balcony would always be my choice.
  16. OMG. That was costly. I must admit I turn off voicemail when abroad.
  17. Good morning Graham and all CC It is already 18c here in Dorset and hopefully no rain due until tomorrow (at least that is what the forecast says!). Gill
  18. Hi Sarah Jayne, Whilst at sea I would personally put Aeroplane mode on, WiFi on (so you pick up Myholiday) and data roaming off (which on my phone happens automatically when aeroplane mode on) until you are within a mile or so of land in order to not pick up the Maritime network as that will usually incur heavy charges. If the text message says business data only or no service I suspect you may be fine, but I wouldn’t take the risk. Is there anyway you can check the balance/usage on your phones? Perhaps someone else can confirm what I’ve said!! So pleased you are enjoying Iona.
  19. So sorry to hear about the breast cancer Michelle and also your beautiful dog….. what an awful week for you. Sending you a virtual hug. Gill x
  20. Agree Avril. Looking at posts elsewhere - passengers are saying it’s very hot ashore on their cruises, but the air conditioning on the ships when they get back on board is absolute bliss.
  21. Crikey if she has owned it since 1897 she has certainly served enough cream teas to know the right way……🤣🤣🤣
  22. @Selbourne I am thoroughly enjoying your informative, honest and well written posts. I laughed about the department store but Mrs Selbourne should have had the Tiffany bracelet tho. Your credit card had a lucky escape!
  23. Let’s hope there’s not a medical emergency on board.
  24. Ditto. I also purchased one after @Adawn47 recommended and much better than the arm cuff.
  25. That sort of harks back to the old days when the Peninsula Club was the POSH club! Glad you enjoyed it. I’ve always have.
