  1. By the way, a more general term for this I think is Cabotage, or maybe that's the air version. That's why you don't see Air Canada, for example, running flights between New York and Boston. Or when you want to go from somewhere in the US to a secondary port in Europe that you can't do with a nonstop, the second leg is on a local airline. And finally, when Virgin Atlantic wanted to do domestic US flights, they created Virgin America. It's not just foreign flagged cruise lines.
  2. Wish I could go to Gatsby night - I have a costume!!! (I'm on a dance team and our costumes are Gatsby even though our music is some Bulgarian pop song). But I'm finishing up the transatlantic on the Silhouette and then going to LA for the Discovery Princess. GenX, I saw your breakfast post on Facebook, and sent a friend request, in case you're wondering who did that. Feel free to ignore or accept.
  3. My sister and I used to take a Caribbean cruise each August. In 2018, we were on an 11:30 flight from JFK to FLL. On the way to the airport it was cancelled. We both got on the phone with Jet Blue and the best they could do was a 6pm flight from LaGuardia to Boston, and then an early morning flight to Ft. Lauderdale. While this was going on I got on the United App, and found a 7:30 flight to Miami out of Newark. We held onto the JB reservation and took an Uber to Newark. 3.5 hour drive, but we had a lot of time. On the way there, I changed our hotel from Ft. Lauderdale to Miami, since the cruise was out of Miami and my sister said it was stupid to drive up and back. We get to the airport, and the storm that canceled our first flight was raging. Flight was delayed a few times, but we eventually boarded around 9. We sat on the plane for an hour, and I actually booked flights to the first non-US stop. After an hour on the plane, they said they were sending out a test flight. The next thing we heard, the sweetest thing you can under the circumstances was "Flight attendants please be seated for departure". We got to Miami at about 1:30 am. Now. we go in two days early.
  4. I was talking to some people in the retreat on the Eclipse in 2019 (remember those days when you could just get on a ship and go?) and they told me that the Retreat Silent Disco used to be a regular thing, but people outside would see it, feel left out and complain so they stopped it. Maybe they're restarting it? They didn't have it in the Retreat on the Equinox in October.
  5. Thanks for this. When I did my first proctored test, I was confused about where to start testing. I couldn't find it on the Navica site. Eventually, I got to the emed site.
  6. I like both for different reasons. I do like Murano, but I also like the intimacy of the Summit. And the staff was amazing when I was on her. We sail in Sky Suites usually, and the Retreat Sundeck is very nice on the Summit. I've been on the Equinox, and it's not as nice, and the Eclipse, which will be my next S class, doesn't have it at all.
  7. Glad you made it. I agree with day early 100%. In fact after major issue with the day before, my sister and I fly to Florida two days before. In 2018, our day before canceled, and the best we could do on Jet Blue was Laguardia (we were at Kennedy) to Boston with an early morning flight to Ft. Lauderdale (ship was in Miami), arriving about 10am day of cruise. I found a very expensive United flight from Newark to Miami, and we went there. It was very late and almost didn't go out, but we did make it at about 1:30 am. Now we give it two days.
  8. I'm not 100% sure that just because they were told Saturday it means anything about your flight. By the way, thanks for doing this. I love Live Froms, and I'm three weeks out from my first X cruise of the year. I was supposed to be between my May and August cruises, but I had to cancel my May cruise due to the cold I had a week before that lit up that awful Covid test line. So instead, I rebooked for July (a little easier after they changed the port I booked the cruise for), and worked on the California Primary. And I've been on the Equinox many times, and lover her. We did just have to move a January 2023 to the Beyond in 2024 - ran into a date conflict with the US Figure Skating Championships in 2023. So, happy to follow along vicariously. Have a great time.
  9. As others have said, you're probably not wrong. That said, maybe their putting it in there was before the current version.
  10. If I can I will. I'm, of course, assuming that 5 of the points were from the shore ex promotion on the cruise we had to cancel.
  11. I just got 10 too. I have no idea why. If one was for a shore excursion it will be removed I think. If I keep 5, I make Elite + in a month for sure.
  12. I remember a while ago on some Alaska cruise a couple of guys at guest services who didn't get their luggage. Turns out it was on the wrong ship. Due to an itinerary change, I think they got it earlier than they thought.
  13. I also agree. I'm pretty careful, very careful about masks, somewhat careful about distance. I tested negative for coming back to the US after a cruise (3 days in Vancouver afterward) and then again a week later on a home test for a medical procedure. Three days after that, I had a bad cold and it was Covid. No idea how or where I got it. Fortunately, it was about 2 days of a cold, no fever and I started getting better the next day. Thank you Moderna.
  14. We have a family trip in September, with 7 people. We'll be staying on the night before the cruise at an airport hotel. The plan is for me and DH to rent a car, and then drop near the pier in the morning of sailing day and for my sister and mother to UBER or lyft. In 2018 we rented a car at the airport, and dropped downtown and they had a shuttle. I don't remember who it was with, though. Are there currently any rental car companies with complimentary shuttles? We will need a car because my mom will need a car to take her to dinner the night before. Thanks much for any assistance.
  15. My thoughts exactly. I have a mask that says Masked and Vaxxed for your protection. Now I want one that says Masked, Vaxxed and Recovered for your protection.
  16. I'm so sorry - for me, it wasn't a big deal, but I had what ended up being an extremely mild case. I hope DH stays negative, and that you recover fast.
  17. Sorry this happened to you. I was supposed to be on the Eclipse last week, but Covid cancelled that. (My silver lining was that I was able to be a poll worker with a nice group of people). I'm one of those people that coughs a lot anyway, and I do groups of sneezes. At one job, they said they could set the clock by my morning sneezing fit. And I get sunshine sneezes. Here's hoping your first PCR is negative. And I took a PCR right after my first negative antigen, and it too was negative.
  18. Sometimes. I had Covid in May, and have since had 2 PCR after a negative antigen, and both were negative.
  19. I've done lots of cruises in the Retreat. If the confirmation says Cruise Only under departure airport it means you didn't book air. That's all. It has nothing to do with perks. If it says it somewhere else, then I don't know.
  20. I went to the page and used my browser's find command to find key words in the question. They were all there. The questions come directly from the page.
  21. I don't know the answer, but I think cruise only means you didn't book air, or hotel, or any other land type packages.

You don't have to click through on anything, it's all on the first page.
  23. I just got the email and did the quiz from that. Because I had to cancel my cruise last week (Covid), I'm losing the 5 points from the shore excursion. So, I'm not sure if I need the Go Green from the rebooked cruise in July or not, since I don't know where my current count comes from. I'm trying to reach Elite + by my July 31 cruise. I'm at 711 now. I have the 5 coming in from the CEO webinar. That would put me at 716, so the 35 from the July cruise would do it, if the 711 didn't include the shore excursion. If it did, the 5 points from the webinar replaces, and the 35 would put me at 746, plus anything that comes this month, so far 1 point.
  24. When I had it we ate and slept separately and wore masks when we need to be in the same room. DH tested every day for a week and then a few days later after I tested negative. He was still negative. Maybe this is useful.
