  1. Thx! Maybe we should carpool from MA! 😉 Will continue my research.
  2. Oceansaway17, we too are on the Odyssey next April 2025. Would you have any advice for reasonable parking for the 2 weeks? Driving the 4 hrs from MA.
  3. Please update any info. Much appreciated.
  4. I’ve looked everywhere. Im missing the wit of the RC peeps.
  5. I still think/wish there were separate river cruising forums. Between itineraries, ship layouts, excursions and general topics you’d think there would be enough traffic to support such boards. Viking, Tauck, Emerald, Uniworld, etc. should ask if it would be possible for someone start a board.
  6. Why not? Each of the ocean cruise lines has a forum? I’m baffled.
  7. Am I missing a location for such a forum or does it not exist on CC? I can only find River Cruise Ports. 🤔
  8. We tried numerous times/methods to unlock the cabin door using the app but it never did work. Symphony of the Seas last month.
  9. I’m not sure this is the correct forum for a Viking River cruise general question, but there doesn’t seem to be a Viking River Cruises board (other than port specific…why is that?) The question: is there a way to find out the hours docked at each port? Many of the other cruise lines post the hours for each port. I don’t want to spend hours researching what we can do (in addition to the included/optional tours) on our own if we don’t know how much time we’ll have at each port. (B to A Rhine River) Thx.
  10. Laurie977, I was on the same cruise and feel quite differently. Yes, it was crowded at times, especially Windjammer, but isn’t every ship buffet crowded? Yes, finding a pool chair was tricky, but I always found one within a short time. The shows were outstanding, the ship is gorgeous, the crew were friendly, efficient and respectful. The MDR food was great most nights (prime rib twice, lobster tails once, lots of shrimp, Etc). Zip line, mini golf, ice skating, Ultimate Abyss… I had a great time. Just sayin’…😉
  11. Be SURE to catch all the shows - they were over the top! Simply loved the Aqua shows, Flight and the skating 1977 one. Absolutely awesome!
  12. Well, there’s surely a lot to be said on THAT topic! 😁 Having just sailed on the Symphony, I’d say formal is back on that ship. 2 nights of runway fashion. The vast majority of guests were very dressed up - gowns, glitter, suits and tuxes galore sailed the promenade. It was fun to see. Dining room clientele was a step down, but still quite dressy. We were in the dressy dress/shirt & tie group. BTW it was in the Caribbean (for the member who asked specifically).
  13. I, too, miss the good old days (Midnight Chocolate Buffet anyone?😉), but won’t resort to a checked bag JUST to bring a suit. Brooks Brothers and a tie will have to do. Thanks for the feedback!
  14. With many of us doing carry-on only these days, packing a suit for the husband seems challenging. For those who’ve cruised recently (Oasis) would a dress shirt and tie suffice? TIA
  15. Yes you can use a laptop. They will send you a link. No special software needed. Make note of the code they give you when you get your confirmation. You’ll need just that. If you don’t see your connection email be sure to check your junk mail. They kindly sent me 3 emails before I found the first one hiding there! Duh!
  16. Very helpful info for those of us sailing this ship in the future. Thx!
  17. My only issue with all this was that the email links/codes went to my junk mail and I didn’t notice. They ended up sending the link multiple times because of my mistake. Duh, me!
  18. Pleeeeaaassee be patient with us asking these (nerve wracking) questions. Yes, I’ve searched the forum. Sigh. So time line for PCR test and AirCan is what? Which comes first? They both seem to say you need to do them within 48 hours. (Even though Canada’s requirements for those flying in from USA seem to say 72 hours.) Flying into Vancouver for a cruise with NCL. TIA
  19. You are an awesome writer! Reading your blogs is a such a treat! We sail next month on the Jewel. Can’t wait!
  20. We are in the same situation. Sadly we can’t find a way to Portage Glacier that is reasonably priced and gets us to the airport by 7 PM. (Pick up from Anchorage is only once daily at 1:30 PM, taking 5 1/2 hrs.) SOOooo, we too will be on the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail, either walking or biking. Still not a bad way to spend our last day of vacation. 😊
