Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. I've seen that many charters work with local restaurants who will cook it up for you - if you have time!
  2. I have done some research, but it's nice to get recommendations if others have done it.
  3. We are going in April 2024 and have never been to these Islands. My husband would like to do a fishing charter. Can anyone recommend a charter company or give me some insight on which island might be best for that? Thanks for any help.
  4. We were provided a bagged lunch in the Yacht Club when we had long excursions in Ireland and Scotland. It was a simple small turkey or ham sandwich, a piece of fruit and a bottle of water.
  5. I would like a variety of music in the Top Sail Lounge. Last cruise we had the same piano player most evenings and I'm pretty sure he played the same songs. There was one night we had a piano player with a violinist. Maybe that's what they feel the demographic is but it got boring.
  6. We got the bagged lunches in Scotland or Ireland, (maybe both) when we had 9-hour excursions, so we took it on the bus. We didn't just walk around town with a bag of food. We didn't know when we'd be able to eat so we appreciated it. We got a piece of fruit, a focaccia with a piece of ham or turkey and cheese and they always had water for us to take. A couple in another cabin invited us to dinner at the YC restaurant and they had a butler find us to convey the invitation when they didn't see us that day. One day I felt queasy and the TopSail Lounge butler mixed up a concoction with lime and he checked on me regularly. My daughter underestimated her alcohol consumption one evening and a butler walked her to our room to make sure she didn't fall on her way there.
  7. We have seven people so I was able to change to a June original itinerary. Then a couple of people decided they didn't want to go in June. After an hour and a half on the phone to actually make the change I was not so thrilled. I was able to cancel the next day and still get our deposits back, thankfully, even though I changed the date.
  8. MsTabbyKats - No interior. We have two Duplex Suites.
  9. Seven of us were booked on the 4/14 Bahamas/Florida trip for 7 days. We have been moved to the 11 night, which only two people would be able to do. Since we are in the Yacht Club, and those deposits are normally non-refundable, I wonder if I will run into a problem if we decide to cancel. Looking into moving to May but that means we have to change our accommodations since it would now be $400 more per person for the same. I called but she said nothing could be done until after July 5 when their computer systems catch up with the actual changes.
  10. Eleven days from sailing and I noticed the charge pending on my credit card yesterday for the upgrade but no email or change in the room is reflected on the website as of yet.
  11. I tried to transfer (YC to YC / Same date) and the price they quoted me on the phone was about $2k more than the price on the website. They could not figure out a way to get me the online price so the only way to do it was to cancel my existing booking and re-book which they said forfeited my initial $398. So, make sure the price is not much more than you expected.
  12. I recently changed to a different itinerary, leaving on the same day. I kept a comparable Yacht Club room. The price listed on the website was a couple thousand dollars less than they quoted me over the phone to "transfer" the booking. So I had a choice, pay the new price or cancel my booking and re-book. So I lose either way.
  13. Yes, I did switch after talking to two separate MSC agents. I wanted to get a "second opinion". They both confirmed it was non-transferrable. I did send an email to them - can't hurt to try. I have two YC Duplex suites booked on a 2024 cruise already. I will not be changing that for any reason. 😁
  14. I was disappointed to find that they would NOT transfer my Yacht Club deposit to a more expensive cruise on the same date, different itinerary, still in the YC. I wasn't cancelling a cruise, I was changing because it says I get ONE FREE CRUISE CHANGE. Do they normally charge a fee if you change it? Also, the price to transfer to a different itinerary was almost $2k more than the advertised price online for new bookings. You have no idea what it really costs to change cruises until you get on the phone. I don't know if I can even challenge it.
