  1. This just shows how everyone is different. We have visited Gib on 7 out of 9 cruises plus a 4 night stay at the Rock Hotel in the last 8 years. I have to say we missed not going there on our last 2 cruises. Looking forward to having an all day visit on Ventura later in the year. Horses for courses.
  2. I was on cruise B217 last week. We were told by the Captain of a change to Toulon a day or two before we were due to dock at Marseilles. The reasons given were; a) Marseille would be busy as there would be 3 other ships in port, b) there was a shortage of coach drivers for the shuttle buses required and under their regulations they have to take breaks, which would be at lunchtime, when the demand for Shuttles is high and c) French dock workers had delayed the entry of two ships by 2 hours the previous day. In light of this it was decided to go to Toulon instead, where we were the only ship docked. It did require a free 10-15 minute shuttle ferry across the bay, but they operated very efficiently. New excursions were arranged and these left by coach direct from Britannia. As has been mentioned already, Toulon is a nice town, with beaches, bars and history. I appreciate frustrations regarding the timing of the announcement but in my view it did not detract from the enjoyment of the cruise overall.
  3. You may find that missed port insurance cover only applies if it is due to bad weather and providing no alternative port was found
  4. Regardless of what he is complaining about or what upsets him, he needs to be glad he's able to go on a cruise!
  5. I have completed several cruises with P&O and on each occasion one of the Black Tie nights has been a black and white theme. Maybe True Devonian and partner need to know if this has changed or whether or not to pack their black and white attire.
  6. I think you need to do a reality check and consider the reason why you are no longer going to St. Petersburg. I'm sure there are many Ukranians who would welcome a night in Stockholm or Copenhagen.
  7. If he/she is friend, why not ask them if it's that important to you
  8. Thank you for your thoughts having just returned from Britannia, particularly with regards to your cabin on Deck 15. Whilst I appreciate the savings gained when booking a Saver Fare, compared to Select, there is always a risk involved, especially with the location of your cabin and dining arrangements. It is unfortunate if you end up with something that does not meet your preferences, but then maybe it comes down to "you get what you pay for". Having said that, it is not acceptable that 5 different people failed to respond to your request to sort the dining out, even if it was to advise that changing your allotted dining arrangements was not possible.
  9. Whilst I've only done 9 cruises I have also never had any issues/problems whatsoever with any pre authorisations using a credit card. Before setting sail I always ensure any money I spend on board will not exceed my credit card limit. I keep a record of each purchase and if p & o's account is within £20 of my total, which has always been the case, it gets paid automatically, without me worrying about it. I will add that I have never felt the need to log in to my bank accounts when away from home.
