They changed the recipe for my Sailing Through the Orchids. In January on the Discovery it was made with spiced pear liquor.  And they added $4 to the price.

Please answer only if you've booked a Guarantee.

What was the location of your cabin assignment?

    1. Mid-Ship

    2. Mid-Forward or Mid-Aft

    3. Forward or Aft

If you've booked Guarantee multiple times, please list all.

Not interested in the "book the cabin in the location you want" comments.

    Thanks.

I booked a guarantee balcony for a cruise this past January.  2 months before we sailed, they upgraded me to an Aft Premium Deluxe Balcony.  I was so happy as I love looking out over the wake.

  3. Normally, except for the first couple of cruises, you can't make reservations until the ship hits the water.  I read this morning that reservations are open now through June sailings.  I think because you can only use the new app on the Sun, that that is a factor.  I think it's the app which Princess tends to make available before all the bugs are worked out.

We live at over 6000 feet so probably not the same elevation issue. We're in Colorado. Did it rain alot? So we do need 2 luggage? We we're going to do a suitcase and a duffel bag. Take the duffel to MP. There are just too many questions. Lol

True.  Cusco is about double that but MP is only 9,000.  (Copper Mountain range)  Most of the rain was light but often...except for one day when the skies opened up. I have a very light weight rain jacket from Columbia that I ordered a size up so it fit over my hoodie.  I also bought a pair of Goretex (waterproof) Saucony sneakers that have hiking boot like treads on the sole.  They worked great.  1 big suitcase for the cruise and 1 smaller bag, duffle is fine, for the land tour.

So, just like slacks and a nice sweater for dinner? We figured jeans every day for bugs.

Many people wore their jeans to dinner so you can do that.  I just work black slacks and a plain top.

Thank you for the good info. I'm excited.

You'll love it.  Elevation is quite a factor. Take iron before going and hydrate, hydrate, hydrate.

I had forgotten that they kept our big suitcase at the hotel in Cusco..that is correct.  I forget if it was in Olantaytambo or Machu Pichu but we had a free afternoon.  I did a 5 part spa visit that was the best ever.  3 hours of pampering.  For only $166. Once you get to Cusco, you'll get in a mini van and you'll be those people, driver and tour guide the entire time.  We were with great people and our tour guide was so good.  I'm jealous, I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

  7. I did this last March and it was amazing. I mostly wore jeans while in the valley.  I took a hoodie and a light rain coat with a t-shirt underneath and I was fine. I took a pair of slacks for dinners.

We did not leave our luggage in Lima because we did not go back to Lima except to change planes at the airport to fly to Santiago. They told us that's a mistake that Princess has not corrected in their instructions.  Everything went with us.  But,  we had a carry-on size to live out of while traveling because it was easier.  Princess did a fantastic job.

Be prepared to eat a lot of quinoa. Let me know if you have more questions.

  8. I would imagine they would have a PES happy hour like any other ship.  It's not a dedicated lounge usually, it's in one of the bars.  I've never ever heard of Princess giving out drink vouchers for formal night.  I have always brought my non elite fellow travelers with me.  But of course, the Sun has not sailed yet so no one knows for sure.

You can add them during the DMW set up in the new app.  I have reserve class dining so the steps may be a little different for you.  I went to “book dining”, then chose the little heart to view my current reservation, then chose a date and selected “add reservation”, chose a speciality restaurant then scrolled down to “guests” and clicked on that.  On the resulting page there is a little man icon with a + sign next to it in the upper right corner.  Select that then add your shipmates booking number.

I believe I’ve read if you just want to add them in the locate feature it needs to be done onboard (new app).

.  thanks. but can you just add them as travel companions?  Does the new app still have the find your friends function?

I am sure you will enjoy your trip.  The balcony is large and has great views.  Also, I expect cabana deck will be much quieter and more peaceful than the main pool deck.  BTW, with regard to the Cabana class rooms…C2 are Cabana class rooms on deck 9 that are adjacent to cabana deck (as opposed to C1 rooms, which open directly ONTO the cabana deck). I suspect/hope a C2 has a lot more privacy.

    that's why I booked a C2...

Just a quick question here    What do you get wthl a Complimentary Mini-bar set up?

Usually 2 each of vodka, gin, dewars and a brandy but it can vary wildly from ship to ship and you can swap out what you want.  Also 2 cokes, 2 sprites, 2 water, 2 tonic, 2 sparkling water or club soda and 2 beers.  Everything is swapable.

You can also order breakfast from the MDR menu for that day (not Sabitini's menu).  Never tried to order lunch recently (did years ago but as we all know things have changed).  And we were not charged $5 for calling when on the "new" Plus plan.

    You can order lunch also

Before the cover charge was introduced, Alfredo’s/Gigi’s, for me, was just an alternative venue for lunch, and that’s probably about as far as I’d go with endorsing it. We had the option to dine there on our last cruise as part of the Plus Package but we didn’t bother, we’ve never been able to see what all the fuss was all about.

Who gets invited to the Go Lounge?  Only suite pax?  All suite pax?  Or is there some other criteria?

Only suite passengers and not all of them.  I have no idea what the criteria is.

  15. Needs to be a normal size bottle.  As to ports?  It honestly depends on the ship.  You can bring more but you may be charged a corkage fee.  Or there may not be anyone at the desk and you just keep walking.
