  1. We were staying in Amsterdam and there was a stop close. I do think there is a stop very close to where the ship docks ( but I did read perhaps that convenient location will not be used in the future). Trade Routes is a great itinerary. We added Viking Shores and Fjords ( ended in Amsterdam) and the combination was OUTSTANDING.
  2. Sixtry to One . I am currently reading an historical fiction THE ROSE CODE by Kate Quinn. Admittedly I never new about Bletchley Park before the book so I loved these pictures! I wish we had longer in London, it would be fun to see it. When we do British Isle next Spring we are doing Gin and Garden extension in Oxford.
  3. There was no shuttle in Amsterdam the three times we have been there with Viking ( the last was Spring 2022). When we did the included canal tour I do not remember anyone getting off the boat. However, there is a canal boat that works much like a hop on hop off bus and there is a stop near the Anne Frank house ( you can use the same ticket to get back ). Make sure you buy tickets before you leave for the Anne Frank house.
  4. We were there!!! I was part of the film in launderette!
  5. The only way my husband could convince me to go to Antarctica was when Viking offered the Expedition Ship...I do want creature comforts. He realizes Viking's excursions will be a compromise but in reality snow shoeing , cross country skiing, and trecks lasting hours are getting to be a reach for us ( 73 yrs old). We were scheduled to go last December and his aortic valve decided to quit....we were so fortunate NOT to be in Antarctica when that happened! We will go hopefully in January! Friends who did go enjoyed the Viking Experience! You need to be flexible...most of their landings were NOT on the continent itself but the surrounding islands but they could not tell the difference.
  6. We really enjoyed "Trade Routes" as part of a 4 part cruise.
  7. While $25 deposit is an incentive for some....I like FREE silver spirit package! I'd rather have lower cruise fares than FREE Viking Air that can be problematic.
  8. does the Danube flow toward Amsterdam or toward Budapest how strong is the current?
  9. Madmedic V1 or V2 NOT over Torshavn but DV6 is. Look at the diagram. We prefer V1 we have not been bothered by restaurant noise. Some noise with V2 from Star Theater but especially when they put the anchor down or up if you are quite a bit forward. Works as a great alarm clock we were in 3003. Our very outside Balcony window ( not into the room) did break though during an especially bad storm while crossing the Bay of Biscay.
  10. never heard the laundry door on 5048 BUT Torshhavn all times of the day/night when in 3055....Viking moved us during a World Cruise thankfully. Beware of taking a guarantee cabin.
  11. You will find Viking very flexible and generous in the included beverages.
  12. I had a cameo spot in that video in the Laundry!!!
  13. When we were doing it I did not appreciate how special it was! It was a great cruise and welcome to Viking!
  14. Yes it was Jane!!! Senior memory! She was in the Owner's suite!
  15. There was a British TV personality onboard...Ann McDonald, I think, she was doing a review of the ship for her TV series about cruising. So glad we were able to visit St. Petersburg and Tallin!
  16. We missed Porto too in 2017! Were you on the Sky..Barcelona, Baltic and Beyond! I wonder if I can still get compensation for the missed Porto!!! LOL....we have been to Porto twice since and will be back this fall...hope you get to visit one day. That was our first Viking Ocean Cruise and still one of my favorites!
  17. I always remember pea soup in the late evening too. Always wished I had found it at lunch one day but most lunches find us at the Pool Grill enjoying seared salmon and an onion ring! Our next ocean cruise will be very Port Intensive and I am sad we will not have care free sea days to enjoy the ship! I bet we will never have breakfast in the dining room which I always enjoy!
  18. WOW....I must learn to your polite whine verbage! maybe $100 but $1000 for one missed port is incredibly generous.
  19. We did that last year for our Antarctic trip and the seats disappeared so keep an eye on the flights. Also what we thought would be "premium" economy on Delta was only Delta Comfort, but still a good price! It was just after Christmas so a VERY busy time to fly. I bet you will have no issues.
  20. I have tried more than once and it is still a firm NO...shots crossing the equator was worse than kissing the fish!!!
  21. I would LOVE to have to go to Bratislava...so disappointed that it is on the European Sojourn itinerary. It was a great stop when we did Grand European in 2012.
  22. I do not care for Aquavit... Give me a White Lady!!! A French 75 if I want to add sparking wine cocktail!
  23. deec

    Lufthansa

did you have to pay extra for the seat assignments? Not much but still an aggravation.
  24. Very Irritating to be on a bus waiting for people who never SHOW only to learn later that they just left the tour!!!
