  1. I agree! But I'm sure Jim and Iain have taken good care of the ship for us! (I am a little worried about Jim's report that many crew are leaving at the end of his cruise and new crew will be coming on.)
  2. Hi Kevin. I, of course, am not Jim, but will be boarding the Summit a week from Sunday and will get to spend two days in Charlottetown. Do you have any suggestions in things to do/see, places to go/eat?
  3. The containers are a part of entire "village" made up of repurposed shipping containers: "In June 2022, we opened the full waterfront experience with a diverse collection of retail shops, a performance space, a waterfront Container Lounge, food trucks, public art and pop-up activities. All wrapped up in more than 60 shipping containers, celebrating everything that’s cool about our identity as a Port City." (Copied from the container village's website) https://area506.ca/container-village/
  4. I actually tried one of these on the Summit in June - it was gross! Since I hate wasting anything, I think I kept adding ginger ale to it until I could stomach drinking it.
  5. Jim, have you tried/been able to get an affogato at cafe al bacio yet? I forgot when I was last on the Summit, and am hoping to get one in September.
  6. Thanks. Although I usually don't do so, for Cadillac Mountain I did book a ship excursion. It's not too long, but does go to the top of the mountain, and gets back into town early enough for some exploring.
  7. Can't wait to follow along with you and Iain and your adventures. I'm hopping on the Summit the day you get off, except my cruise is only 10 nights - it doesn't go to Montreal. So far, I have nothing planned, except for a trip to Cadillac Mountain - my sister says if you get to the top and the sky is clear, you can actually see the curve of the earth. So, I will be awaiting your reviews of the places you visit and things you do on your third leg. (And of course, the rest will be great to read about also, although I don't think my budget will ever allow me to go to Iceland).
  8. Thanks. Yes, going this September to the northern Maine coast/Canada. I really like the Summit and look forward to two more cruises I have scheduled on her.
  9. I haven't gotten that point either, nor my points for my cruise that ended July 3rd. I've tried calling a few times, and I actually got someone who said it takes 30 days, as I was looking at the Celebrity page that said 10 days. But every time I did get a live voice, they said they would have to connect me with someone actually from the Captain's Club, at which point they then just put me back in the original hold line I had been on before I spoke with them. Guess if I call at 5AM I might have a chance.
  10. If that La Quinta is the one in Stamford, CT, we stayed there in March of this year. Just be warned that it is not updated and parts of the room looked pretty old. It also lacked detailed cleaning, like baseboards and floor corners had accumulated dirt on/in them. The diner food was OK, but if you're imagining a diner with low prices, this is not it.
  11. No point here yet, either. And I'm still waiting for the points from my cruise that ended July 3rd.
  12. Hi Jeff. You may have already posted about this, but how do you post pictures and still be able to insert text between them? Thanks! (And if I didn't already say, truly enjoyed your review, as I have all of the others).

  14. You might want to check out @David Kane's reply to the same question on the June 26 Summit roll call thread: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2825075-summit-june-26-2022-bermuda/page/4/#comment-63450772
  15. I can't believe I am finally cruising with a legendary CC live reviewer. I absolutely love your reviews, especially seeing the pictures of you and XZ dressing up each night in really great finery! Are you bringing your trunk with all your great wardrobe? I probably won't be running into you though, as you, being in the Penthouse, l and myself, being in a lowly veranda, will, in all likelihood, never cross paths. But no matter, I will still have this review to make me feel like I am really on the same cruise. Perhaps I'll see you onboard!
  16. Masks "suggested" or required? I received an e-mail that said they were required.
  17. Well, since you probably don't have time to buy two more carriers, may I suggest a cheapy fix for 2 more bottles? Buy 4 of those young children's blow-up arm floaties, and use two per bottle to cushion your bottles in whatever you decide to pack them in.
  18. Funny! I did about the same thing this morning, checking on empty cabins. Thanks for doing the math - cheers right back at you! Forgot to mention that my favorite place for sail-away from both NJ and from Bermuda is the Sunset Bar!
  19. Actually, we had no idea about the carriage rides - just happened to be in the town square to watch the dunking reenactment, and after that was over, saw the carriages pull up. Approached a driver (Crystal) and inquired about the tour, then decided to go ahead and take the ride through St. George. You're welcome. Last time I was on the Summit was in 2018, so things may have changed. I believe it was after the upgrades, but since we only had an interior cabin on that cruise, I don't remember much about the cabin except for four walls! The Martini Bar was great - I liked the icy bar and the shows that the bartender put on. Can't wait to board, and I have another Summit cruise coming up in September.
  20. You're welcome. I have read that quite possibly, the reenactment of the dinking of the wench is no longer taking place, but of course, things may change. If I'm not mistaken (and this was back in 2018), it was under $100 for 2 of us. I believe the charge was per person and the tour was about an hour. Although it sounds pricey, it was well worth it to see a city through a local's eye, all while riding in a horse-drawn carriage.
  21. If you go to St. George in Bermuda, try to be there sometime around midday, where, at certain times, they do a re-enactment of a dunking in King's Square (if, post-covid, this is still going on). It's pretty funny, like a 15 minute, one act play. Also, we took a horse and carriage ride thru St. George. The carriages were found in King's Square also. We had a lovely driver, Crystal, from Bronco Stables, who took us around the real life places in town, and even to her home, which was basically a working farm-type area, with various animals and flowers and vegetables. Along the way she made various stops and was always explaining things about the island. It was a great way to tour St. George. If you go to Horseshoe Beach, I would suggest taking the mini-bus shuttles that are located in the parking lot on your right as you are walking from the ship to the dockyard area. $7 one way. They actually take you down the hill at Horseshoe, which can be quite a walk if you take the public bus, which only stops at the top. To get back to the dockyard, these shuttles will be waiting at the bottom of the hill. No reservations! We always visit the Frog & Onion Pub in the dockyard for a craft beer (and some free wifi, if you need it). Wednesday evenings there is a celebration in Hamilton, called Harbour Nights. Lots of vendors set up outside along their waterfront street and a parade with their Gombay dancers also happens - fun to watch. Just be warned that this can get crowded, and if you actually want to sit at a restaurant with views of the parade, it might be difficult, unless you arrive really early. Easiest way to get here is by public ferry, which is $5 one way, I believe. It departs the dockyard and Hamilton on a set schedule. As for the Summit, just enjoy! I loved the fact that it was a smaller ship, and it seemed you would run into the same people all the time, and actually get to have conversations. A more relaxing cruise compared to the mega ships, where you feel the need to try everything (case in point - I was recently on the Oasis). Main dining room food was great, as were the buffet selections. Now, I assume that things may have changes some since Covid, but probably not the quality. Also, the pastries at Cafe al Bacio are great (and free), and if you have the beverage package, try some of their specialty coffees. One thing I've learned from CC is to ask for an affagato, which is gelato with espresso poured over it. It's not on the current menu, but according to some recent Celebrity cruisers, they'll make it if you ask. I haven't tried it yet but Jim-Iain here on CC swears it's the best thing at the cafe.
  22. I have a Samsung A42. But not interested in any tech work arounds. My package allows for two devices to be logged in at one time, I assume, since it specifically states I have wifi for 2. I guess I'll find out how the premium works when I board and how to switch it between the two devices.
