Check with the cab driver. They will charge more to take you directly to the ship as they have to pay port charges

Sorry to butt in. We also have this cruise at the end of the year and fly in the day before. We have the "Scenic" recommended hotel and have been told that they will arrange our transfer to the boat. Our TA said that this could be at 11am but does that sound right? It seems rather early? Like the Op, we'd like to arrange a couple of tours for that day.

Oh, lucky that you checked! We will keep an eye out as BA are notorius for flight time changes.

Yes, we live next to Gatwick but didn't have a problem going from Heathrow if the flights were direct but they gave us LHR to Frankfurt and then connect for Amsterdam with Lufthansa (Over 12 hours door to door and 6 or 7 hours more than hoping on an Easyjet at Gatwick) We've managed now to get direct BA flights.

Am I overthinking things, but we've finally got direct flights for our Scenic river cruise booked (Scenic sorted out these after we refused the first choice of indirect flights) The return flight is from Munich at 12.50pm. The cruise returns into Nuremberg, which looks to be about 1.5 to 2 hrs away. On the website it states that we should opt for flights after 2pm if we book ourselves but I'm assuming as Scenic have arranged all these, that the timings are all ok?

We've never been charged in Concierge, Aqua or Suites? Maybe just lucky

We have always ordered a drink from room service with breakfast and have never been charged? Suite, Aqua and Concierge.

Strange question, but if we have the continental breakfast (as we only ever have toast) can we also order mimosa's without incurring a charge?

Not quite the same but we had the Galapagos booked and did a lift and shift (then finally they cancelled it) I'd paid for pre-booked seating on the flights, which was nearly £300 and this was refunded. I did have to chase several times but finally got there. Good luck but you are due a refund.

We've just come back from the Caribbean and we had cabin 9382...huge balcony and it did feel private as there is also a small overhang

Another thing we noticed (in our personal experience)... We've had a Sky suite on both ships...we didn't use the Retreat lounge once on the Edge. It was always empty with no atmosphere. The S class lounge was accessible straight from boarding the ship and was always our first stop when getting back on board. The Retreat sundeck on E was excellent though.

We find the ensemble lounge and world class bar nice places to hang out and not intimate but certainly "more" intimate than E class ones

I much prefer the S class if it's just the two of us. It just feels more intimate.

Thank you for the comparison. We've been on the Edge (retreat) and it's a great ship. We've had mixed entertainment on X cruises. The last cruise, a couple of weeks ago, had excellent entertainment but the Edge in May was just blah. One of the main reason's we picked this cruise is more for the varied itinerary. We are still undecided and have loads of time to look into it

Thank you all. We are going to look at the 10 day one as it's a month later, so should be warmer. We couldn't seem to get a cruise only figure (no air fare) directly but a TA has come back to me with a couple of options. It saves a huge chunk not adding the air and thought we'd loose the couple of extras too, but apparently you don't. Now I have some prices to work on, I may just hold off for a few weeks and see if any New Year offers appear. Thank you all for your help and being such a friendly forum!
