Noticed this on Navigator last week. I think it is a good update. They can remove the requirement to contact Special Needs for simple things like cpap water and cord.

@Tree_skier, I'm sailing on Navigator on Monday and haven't gotten this email--although I got one alerting me to the fact that the bridge from Long Beach to San Pedro and all the roads by the port, will be closed starting at 5 am for a race.  Can't wait for that mess--I'm sure those trying to get off the ship and get to the airport will not be pleased.   But I'm curious when you got the 'guest requests' email?

    Hi Gang,

I have a question. Our cruise is something like 43 days out. Oasis of the seas.

We booked a GTY suite last year for this sailing.

So my set sail pass, says the following:

    Deck - 12

    Stateroom - GTY

    Muster - EO3

At the very top of the sail pass directly under my name is says "Sea Class". On the bottom of the sail pass there is a barcode. Well I don't have an iPhone. I have Android. I scanned the barcode with a scanner app on my tablet and there the room assignment was, last 5 digits.

So essentially I know my GTY is gonna be this Junior suite, right? Has anyone ever experienced something like this and ended up with a different cabin assignment? Also, I think I read this in a search, but info might have changed. Are you allowed to switch your cabin once your number has been shared officially?

    thanks!

    By process of elimination:

Sea class is junior suites--there are only 8 junior suites on deck 12

Muster EO3 is starboard side, so that narrows it down to the 4 JS on starboard side.

The four on that side are 12626, 12630, 12632 and 12636.  My guess would be it will be one of those four.

Deck 12 is a great location!

I just booked the Wonder for April 2024 and The Key is $49.99. Yikes.

that's insane and nowhere close to being worth it. (And I buy the Key most of the time it's offered)  As far as wifi being $20.99 per day, if you need it for more than one person for all the days, buying for one person but choosing multiple devices (2, 3 or 4) saves you some money versus each person buying for just one device at $20.99 per day.

Have a 9 year old that will want to do both. Is this something I can ask the suite concierge to arrange before getting on the boat. Can they both be reserved beforehand?

also if anyone knows. On the 3 night weekend cruise i believe the laser tag is at 4pm or port day and ice skating is all day on the sea day. Is that correct?

Things may have changed in the last few months, but when I was on Navigator, you needed to book those as soon as you boarded and connected to the app.  For ice skating long pants and socks will be required.  When you do book a spot, show up pretty early to get in line. It's popular and the sessions aren't very long, so getting in line so you're ready when your time opens up will be helpful.

We will be sailing with a large group. 12 adults and 10 children. We all have the dining package for specialty restaurants.

    1. how large a group can they accomodate at tables in the specialty restaurants?
    2. How likely are we to be able to even make a reservation to accommodate all of us on board?

Two couples, including us, have suites. So i will be requesting reservations for just us beforehand and then we will try to switch up once on board. But wondering how likely it even is.

    thank you

the spaces on Navigator, at least for Chops and Jamies, are long rooms, not particularly wide. I think the max I've seen a table set up for is 8-10, but not sure if they could fit them all next to each other with the way the space is laid out.

Can i reserve seats for the iskate show through the concierge and/or are there special seats set aside for suite guests?

this show is only offered once on our cruise and I don’t want to miss the 9:15 show. Also, thinking a 6:30 dinner reservation that night should work in chops, but maybe 6pm would be better?

    thanks in advance!

No reservations. You show up early and if you're in a full suite, they have an area sectioned off for suites.  But they open it up to everyone about 10 to 15 minutes before the show.

Thanks orville99!  I was just going to ask about 'drydock' as we are going on Symphony of the seas in Aug 2024 and I saw they went into 'drydock' last March or so.

Hope the ship is all cleaned up!

She's a farily new ship, not much 'cleaning up' to do.  She had maintenance done in her drydock (think of your car--oil change, tune up).  But she's already got all the bells and whistles and is nowhere old enough to need cosmetic upgrades or updates.  She's a great ship, one of my favorites--enjoy!

You may be able to move to another deck, but you will still have a connecting room, since you were assigned a cabin in category CB.

Another option is to see what the price would be to upgrade to another category.

Not all OV balcony rooms that have a connecting door are category CB.  There are some 1D/2D , 1C/2C and 3D/4D OV balcony rooms that also have a connecting door.  So that would make a difference for @Hawaiianislanddoll to know so they can look at the exact same category when going a mock booking before calling to see if they can switch.

Which is good, but captains aren't on twitter leading up to a cruise keeping passengers updated on potential weather impacts.

I agree.  It would be nice to have an official spokesperson.  Not like Carnival with the zillion posts and polls and elevnty billion comments.   Just some good info for guests that comes straight from someone at Royal.  I know they send emails to 'affected guests' but not everyone gets those, or guests/family of guests are hoping to see an update on either the website like airlines do, or social media.

JVF was good to respond to specific questions on twitter regarding potential effects on a particular sailing.  I wonder if new guy will do that.

He said he would be working with the captains themselves, not likely the public. He said he'd let the captains do the communicating.

With the suite reserved seating area I'm less concerned about getting a "perfect seat" and more concerned about getting 4 seats together/not losing our reservation. Thanks!

Keep in mind that you won't have specific reserved seats.  There's a section for suites, but it fills up quickly as well. If you're Star class and have a Genie, that would probably make a difference, but if you're Sky class and you want 4 seats together in the area blocked off for suite guests, you'll still want to get there a bit on the early side.  I'd do 5 to 5:15 if you're wanting a 'sit down' meal at Coastal Kitchen versus going to the buffet.

What's the latest anyone has gotten notified of an accepted offer?

Cruise is about 18 days away and nothing so far.

Checking RC site there are no suites available to book at this time (yesterday there were 4 Jr, 2 days before that there were 4 Jr, 2 Grand, and 1 Owner) so availability is up and down for sure.

It can be accepted even after the ship has already sailed.  Which means someone missed the ship and now the room category you bid in has an opening.  So you'd pack up and move to the upgraded room.

  13. As others have said, no ice show reservations needed on that class of ship (only needed on Oasis Class).  For a short while after the return from Covid, they were required so they could manage the amount of people attending since half the seats were blocked for social distancing. But they got rid of that about a year ago.  If you want a good seat, just show up fairly early and enjoy some people watching while you wait for the show to start.

We don't use the app because we don't use a smartphone.

That's going to start becoming more and more problematic for a lot of things.  Alaska Airlines now only uses the digital boarding passes, no machines at the airport that spit out a paper one either. They are a fairly large carrier, especially in the west.  I'm guessing other airlines will be making this move as well, and sounds like cruises are doing the same.  Perhaps you can call Royal and see if there's an option for them to check you in over the phone.

  15. Aside from the pizza, what I found interesting was the model for the dining package they also asked about.  Yes, $399, but it would get you $499 worth of food credit.  Note, it didn't say 'unlimited dining' and here's why.  In their one scenario, all the specialty dining would be priced a la carte.  When you run out of package credit, that's it.  The rest is on you.  $499 is about $71 per day for the 7 day cruise.  Most people would run out of that credit well before the end of the cruise by the time you add in a dinner at chops, maybe lunch or a snack at Playmakers--or a perhaps a slice or 2 of pizza?  😛   Forget about a second appetizer, dessert...and definitely entrees.  The other idea that was floated was $399 and you could go to the specialty restaurant and choose 1 appetizer, 1 entree, 1 dessert.  No a la carte pricing, but limits amount you can have.
